After the dust settled, they looted the area, and scouted around. They found the loot of what presumably would be the scanderig’s lair – it looks like another small adventuring party met its fate here. They took the loot to sell or use, as it would do better in their hands than their enemies.

Finding a new hallway, they caught on quick to the giant double doors with a sihedron on them. They referred back to the Writ of Access and Entry they received from the Monk, and read aloud the password given, “Vivosanxi”. They were able to open the doors just fine, however were greeted with a fireball , followed by a “ohmigosh I’m so sorry I thought you were Mokmurian, I was planning my revolt!”

Zaki, Dov’s old childhood rival from his tribe, was for whatever reason holed up here in an ancient library. He helped the party learn about the remaining area here, and the librarian introduced them to the subject matters at hand. They learned much about Karzoug and Xin’Shalast, among other very valuable topics to the party. Zaki was originally asked to help with the fight against Mokmurian, but was afraid that he would be too fragile to assist. They took a moment to prepare themselves against Mokmurian before heading out in the direction Zaki recommended…

The rogue in the party eventually were able to get into position, and knock the golem down. The group fiddled and debated about what to do with the cauldron, while Dov and Naolexa stayed out of the smoke.
Unfortunately, a creature they had not seen before decided this was the best opportunity to ambush the party. A Scanderig, known to swim through the earth and eat minerals, appeared right behind the casters. Yama rushed in while the rest decided to escape. Yama got lucky when the Scanderig accidentally blinded itself, allowing Yama to tear it to shreds.

Yama joined up with the group at the entrance to the next room, where undead were detected by Valtyra. Yama rushed in again, getting a view of the room. He saw a headless statue come to life, and sprinted straight towards it. He attempted to jump up on top of the creature, but failed as an ax came crashing down on him. He took some hefty blows from the Headless Lord, but Yama fell him before going down. The other statues in the room had already animated at this point, surrounding Yama. While Yama did go under at one point, his resiliency took into effect, allowing him to get some healing before continuing on his spree. They handled these targets with ease, despite Yama almost losing his life.

The party decided to return to the hostages in Conna's Altar room after scooping up all of the leftover equipment from their fallen foes. Despite being very overloaded, Philip, Naolexa, and Dov got everyone in the safety of Magnimar. They sold their spoils, and took a few days to themselves to gear up, wind down, and prepare themselves mentally for what was ahead.

Greyfeather, Ameiko, and Shayliss all returned to Sandpoint unharmed, confirmed by a messenger raven to and from Sandpoint. The town of Sandpoint is recovering from the attack while the heroes are away, and luckily, Balor has reported that nothing major has happened since the raid. it's been luckily very quiet.

After visiting not only the markets, but the newly discovered black markets in the underbelly of Magnimar, our Heroes were able to find a few new fun toys to use against their foes. They returned to Jorgenfist at the dawn of the third day, and are ready for a fight.

This new room the heroes stood was of different nature then the hallway they were just in. The walls were of stone, the ceiling rose so high it disappeared into the darkness, and two massive columns stood on either side of a massive stone door adorned with a sihedron. The ground rumbled for a moment, as an oread rose from the floor near the door. The ogre king leaped down from the sky to meet the heroes toe to toe, while from behind two ogre barbarians followed in suit with wolves. Things were going to get sticky fast.

Yama went to approach the oread, but found himself quickly hindered by unseen complications on the floor. He backed himself up, and then leaped as far as he could towards the oread in attempts to bypass the unknown hindrance. He succeeded in landing close enough to her, and managed to wound her. Naolexa followed up with a spell to blind her, which caused her to preemtively use a spell against Yama. She grabbed a sapphire out of a particular pocket on her person, and unleashed a powerful cold spell that hit Yama hard. Despite being blind, she was still able to unleash the same spell afflicting her against Yama, as she blinded him as well. The two attempted to trade blows and spells, and also escape from each other as best as possible. The eventually found themselves relying on a column to rotate around, but Yama accidentally hit one of the columns hard with his daggers, causing a crack on his dagger.

Meanwhile, the others dealt with a heavy onslaught from the ogres. The Ogre King has summoned not only a floating battleaxe to swipe and pester Philip, and a succubus to deal with Vincent and Valtyra. The succubus succeeded in dominating Vincent's mind, as she then used his blade against Philip and his allies. He eventually got control of his mind, but not until some attacks had already occurred against his friends. Philip managed to get a polymorph spell off on the ogre king, which turned him into a harmless otter. Unfortunately, he was able to stave of the section of the magic that prevent him from losing his mental capacities, so now a otter king terrorized the heroes. He lost sight of what he was for a moment, as he rushed up to Naolexa to attempt a strike. This failed miserably, as he ended up not being used to his new limbs just yet, narrowly missing Naolexa.

They eventually were able to kill off the succubus, a wolf, and one of the barbarians when Naolexa found herself in trouble. She was pinned inbetween the now otter king, one of the barbarians, and the succubus. With no where to run, the barbarian crashed his greataxe against her. She fell to the ground for a moment, but something activated inside her as she was lifted up, and set on the ground as if she had not taken as much damage. When the otter king retreated to attempt to dispel the polymorph effect, Shalelu followed up with arrows that pelted the ogre that struck Naolexa down. This provided an opportunity for Naolexa to Dimension Door to escape, giving her a chance to heal. Philip followed as well, as he was bruised up by the ogre king's spiritual weapon and the attacks from Vincent.

The ogre king dispelled the polymorph effect, while the oread, Erdu, dispelled the blinding effect. Now able to see, Yama had disspeared completely from sight. She used the chance to heal a little bit, before attempting to dominate Dov, who had mysteriously appeared. This failed, and Dov encased her in a icy prison in retaliation.

The ogre king and the barbarians eventually fell, Erdu succumbed to the icy grasp of Dov's spell, and healing was distributed all around. The heroes looted what they could, and decided to camp in this large room for the night to rest and recover before proceeded. Using the staff again, Philip sealed off the way they came from to prevent any surprises from behind them. They intended to use Naolexa's and Dov's magical items to keep the amount of sleep needed to a minimum, so they would not tarry in this task any further.

Before them, the Sihedron Door still remained closed, but what lie behind it's doors? Knowledge? Death? Answers?

After looting the ogres and getting past the wall, the group had two tunnels to choose from; the mist filled one, or another tunnel that lead to a darker area. Reiner decided to lead the group through the mist-filled tunnel. About halfway through it, however, Vincent remembered a spell, and dispelled the mist, revealing the next intersection. To the left, the other entrance to the room where our Heroes fought the Lamia. To the right, the start of a hallway with furs lining the sides.

Vincent immediately was wary of the furs, and suggested that they be burned. After the party decided it would be a waste of resources, the started down the hall. After reaching a point, a ranseur burst through the walls, attacking Reiner. As the fur fell, Reiner caught a quick glimpse of a troll behind the wall, using a small slot in the wall to attack through. He warned the rest of the group, but it was too late for Malia and Valtyra, as they also received unexpected blows through the furs.

They had to act fast, and the only way to get through the mess was to get past the wall of furs and around the corner. Reiner, Malia, Valtyra, and Nevik all progressed as quickly as possible through the area. Vincent, Naolexa, Shalelu, and Philip all used Dimension Door to teleport through the hall and to a safe section. Philip quickly used his staff to move the stone wall to close off the tunnel that one of them was in. Nevik worked his way quickly to the other tunnel to deal with the threat there. After making quick work of him, Nevik discovered a treasure chest, which he gathered up and showed the party.

However, Philip had his gaze set on a statue that was on the wall of a three-eyed jackal. As he stared, he saw it twist and contort to look at him directly. It shouted "FOOLS!" While only Philip saw the statue moved, everyone heard the noise.

The Ogres in the room now took to the battlefield, as the ones that Philip spotted earlier began to work their way down the hall. Naolexa, thinking quickly, set up here Necklace of Fireballs for detonation by throwing it down the hallway. She prepared herself to detonate them when someone approached, and since the ogres had no other way of reaching them, they unknowingly walking straight into her trap. One of the ogres was instantly incinerated, while the force of the blast was enough to accidentally set off the bear traps prepared as well.

Meanwhile, on the other wise of the room, more forces showed up, but not before a stone wall appeared, creating a battlement for them to hide behind. The heroes only caught glimpses of who was behind the wall, as arrows began firing out from the wall.

As the fight raged on, an invisible ogre rogue surprised the party as well, and a buffoon ogre charged towards Valtyra. Philip conjured up a wall of fire to prevent anything else from getting through, and to cut of vision of those who were shooting. Nevik managed to trip the buffoon ogre into the large pit meant for them, he perished surprisingly quickly to the fall.

As the rest of the ogres were cleaned up by the group, Philip eventually dispelled his wall of fire to reveal the scorched battlement. The heroes noticed the other ogres had vanished, and a eerie mist only remained in one of the tunnels.

What lies beyond the mist? More trouble? The path to the library? Or both?

The group woke up in the morning to the sounds of nothing. The caves previously buzzed and roared with the sounds of the giants, but now no sounds were heard. Philip slipped on his ring of invisibility and wanted to scout around. Peeking around the corner towards the pit, the crater that was once filled with bones and ash was not devoid of most of the bones. Conna explained that the pit was a sacrificial pit that was used for the sake of either unruly giants or unfortunate small-ones who were captured. Why the bones were missing, however, was unknown to her.

Relaying this information to the rest of the group, Nevik and Philip decided that they would proceed forward to scout out and let the group know what is happening. They decided to go take the southern path to get to the corner of the caves that Conna mentioned lead to the ruins. When they arrived in the mess hall, however, they noticed that all of the tables and chairs that they recently fought next to the day before were now gone. The scouting party proceed, despite this unsettling information.

When they reached the kobold room, the path that Philip sealed off was still in the same state that they had left it in. Philip moved the stone back, revealing a longer hall-like room. However, the disturbing part was the floor. The bones now were scattered across the floor, and were splintered. This made moving through the room difficult, but Philip transformed into an air elemental and flew over the bones. Nevik carefully moved through the area, but the bones definitely slowed him down. As they entered the room, the noticed the other side of the room was dark, covered in shadow and unlit.

That's when the singing started, as it echoed throughout the cave. This reached the altar room, and rang in the party's ears. Shalelu began moving through the tunnel, despite the rest of the group shaking it off. Naolexa was able to determine this to be the song of a harpy, who could lure in it's foes with a song, then attack the victim. Revealing this information, Valtyra, Naolexa, and Vincent all attempted to hold Shalelu. They caught her in the mess hall, but now a new verse of the harpy song played, and rang through the cave on a new note. This vexed the three attempting to help Shalelu, as now all four of them proceed to move towards the source of the music.

Meanwhile, the songs were much louder for Nevik and Philip, but they managed to ignore it well enough. As they moved along, Philip entered a room to the south of the hall. Turning the corner, he was face to face with an ogre. Three of them in the room. Luckily he was invisible, but he let out a frightened gasp right in front of the ogres. Luckily for Philip, the ogres reacted, but only readied themselves for battle. He quickly retreated back towards Nevik, who found out the more unfortunate news about the room: the room was riddled with traps.

He accidentally stepped into a bear trap, which sprung and clamped his leg. He disabled this, and took a closer took around to find that 11 more of these traps remained, along with a covered pit in the middle of the room. It was about this time that the other party members, still hexed, entered the room as well. They were right in the path for the pit, so Philip and Nevik were their only saving grace at the moment. Philip, thinking quickly, summoned a wall of ice to block the path of his allies to the pit. They quickly ran into the wall, stopping their progression. However, the wall reached from floor to ceiling, so it made the song difficult to hear. Noticing this, the harpies appeared on the other side of the room, and quickly went to attack. Once the rest of the party realized where they were, Philip dismissed the wall of ice and the group went to work. The harpies caught Nevik, Philip, and Vincent very close to the pit, and spent most of their efforts trying to kick them and knock them back into it. Naolexa quickly put two of them to sleep, allowing Nevik to do what he does best, and coup de grace the two of them. Philip defended himself against the last harpy, and with a flurry he spun around, dodging a bullet from Valtyra. The harpy screeched towards the tunnel that had the ogres in it, as Philip heard in giant "That's the signal, go! Go!"

The heroes disposed of the harpy quickly, but now they had the ogres to handle. The trolls they saw earlier were still not found, and same with Nualia. The caves knew they were here, and it seems they had time to prepare against the group. What dangers wait for the group now?

Vincent thought quickly, knowing that red dragons were powerful foes, and struck a deal with the dragons. The dragons fight with the party, and in return, the dragons were promised the killing blow against what they assumed were the cause of the enchantment. The dragons agreed, and the blood bath ensued.

The two lamias were certainly powerful foes, battling fiercely with the dragons and the party. However, suspiciously, a third lamia showed up with two unexpected foes at her side; Tsuto and Nualia. Vincent immediately saw this as an illusion, despite not knowing these two. Vincent was told the stories of how Reiner killed Tsuto and ripped out his heart, there was no way he could honestly be standing here now.

Reiner and Malia entered the room a little behind the group, as they ensured that the Sandpoint Villagers were taken care of. Reiner got into the fray and made quick work of one of the lamias. This angered the dragons, as the humans were not true to their word. Instantly, one of the dragons attacked both Malia and Reiner. While this was largely unsuccessful, Reiner readied himself to take on the dragons with full force. The other party members shouted at the dragons and at Reiner, stating that they had a common enemy, and now was not the time to battle that out. Reiner scoffed, and agreed, turning his attention back to the lamias.

While I agree there are more important foes to face at the moment, we should work together if you want to make it out of here alive.


Despite the good intentions behind the statement, the dragons snorted a bit of flame out of his nose, and tripped Reiner as he tried to approach the Lamias. As the 2nd Lamia fell unconscious, the dragon was able to snap it's neck, getting the kill. The dragon who tripped Reiner roared:


Let's see how you handle this last one.


With that, they retreated from the room, leaving the Heroes with a lamia, Tsuto, and Nualia. Philip sealed off the exit for the enemy with a wall of ice, while Nevik got into the fray with Tsuto. Tsuto wasn't putting up much of a challenge at all, and he was eventually put to sleep by Naolexa. Naolexa also petrified the Lamia completely, leaving her a statue in the middle of the room. Nualia attempted to teleport to another section of the room to get a surprise on Philip and Naolexa, but Reiner quickly came to aid of them and tripped her flat. While still on the ground, however, Nualia teleported again to the other side of the wall of ice. Through the ice, Nevik and Reiner were able to spot the outlines of what looked like trolls, and Nualia speaking with them. The heroes turned their attention to the statue in the room, and after debating, Reiner smashed the statue to pieces.

The options on the table now was to either try and pursue the enemy, or return to the altar room with Conna to try and rest up. The spell casters were mentually strained and running low on spells. The party decided returning to the altar room was best, so they began to head back in that direction. Nevik took one last look through the ice, as he only saw one troll outline. Nualia was not seen.

With a mighty heave, Vincent, Nevik, and Valtya pushed open the Sihedron doors. They grinded on the stone frame, revealing a large room, with dirt on the floor, and seven large tree trunk drove into the ground as if stakes. On the far back wall, a large sihedron was displayed, while next to each tree trunk, a small brazier with a brand could be seen. Each of the tree trunks had a manacle set bound into them. Three of these manacles were occupied by none other than Ameiko, Greyland, and Shayliss Vinder from Sandpoint.

The heroes were unable to determine who they were at first because the room was dark, and only lit by the braziers. They approached each of the hostages, who were unconscious, and released them from their bounds. However, when Phillip was the last to enter the room fully, a large rumble from the ground could be heard, as a giant rose from the earth itself. This giant was larger than anything the group had ever seen before, and immediately attacked Shalelu with it's club. Nevik went to work, dodging behind a tree trunk and around the giant. Surprising him with a sneak attack, Nevik made quick work of this giant, as he came toppling to the ground.

After they released and healed the hostages to conciousness, the heroes addressed the brands found on the Sandpoint villager's chest. The sihedron was burned into these three. Not knowing it's purpose, the heroes would have to revisit the issue once they knew more information.

After looting the giant, they left the room and returned to Conna. They left the hostages in her care, as she directed them where they needed to go to get to Mokmurian's ruins. They had two options; a less aggressive approach using the eastern path from Enga's room or taking a nearby passage that would deal with Mokmurian's more powerful allies.

The group decided that the allies would be best to take out now so that they don't haunt them later, so they left the Sandpoint Villagers with Conna, and turned towards the darkened tunnel. The tunnel was not dark due to light, however. It was darkened from ash and soot on the wall. Seeing this, Nevik scouted ahead, and found 2 red dragons around the corner. After relaying to the party, the heroes decided the best course of action was to talk to the dragons first before attacking. Cautiously, the party spoke with the dragons, which was met with figurative firey breath in response. In speaking with them, however, they determined that the dragons were under the effects of charm magic. They dispelled the magic on them, and they almost instantly turned tail in a flurry to the other room.

The heroes followed in suit to find the dragons in battle with creatures they had not seen before; lamias. Half-human, half-lion, these creatures showed to be powerful adversaries. Who knew what would come next, as the battle raged on.

The party woke up in the morning to find no disturbances in the tower itself. They now had to sneak back down into the caves and deal with more of the threats there, while also trying to locate the hostages.

When they stepped out into the courtyard, the area was deserted. Aside from the giants on the tower, no-one was seen. The party snuck their way back to the cave entrance, and teleported back to Conna's altar room.

The group decided to handle some of the areas up north to deal with some more potential threats and allies to this Mokmurian leader. They were pinned in between two stone giants and the kitchen's cook, who began to run at the group with a iron ladle. While the rogues decided to take a flank, they encountered two more stone giants, whom they dealt with decisively. The giants were no match for the might of the party, even after 2 additional giants joined the fight from one of the tunnels. After the dust settled, Conna stated that it was up to them from here, and that she will pray for the groups safety.

the group followed the path where the 2 giants came from, and it led them to massive stone doors with a sihedron carved into it.

After observing the situation from the small alcove in the pit, the group decided the best path of action was to teleport up to the top of the ramp and see where this Black Tower might lie. Conna explained that the only entrance to the tower was on the ground level, so they needed to get up there somehow.

The party teleported with the help of Naolexa and Vincent, while Philip simply burrowed into the earth. They observed the outside courtyard, which luckily was empty of any of the stone giants. On the towers that rise above this ring, stone giant sentries seemed to be stationed at each one, aside from a larger tower that stood double in height. As it was behind the mammoth stables, Conna helped the group sneak around the stables without alerting the mammoths, and over to the Black Tower.

They were cautious of entering the tower, but luckily Yama was able to confirm that no traps were armed on the door of the tower. He entered in cautiosly, and the group immediately confirmed that there was a trap door that was in the middle of this room. Vincent swung it open, and Valtyra confirmed that it was the only way down in this area. Valtyra tied some rope securely, and knotted the rope with Shalelu's assistance. One by one, the heroes descended into the lower level of the Black Tower.

Yama was first, and as he landed, he noticed the room was very cold. On the floor, there was a body wrapped in linens and holding a scroll case very tightly. Yama's greed got the better of him, and he rushed over to try and get a closer look at the scroll case. As he did, the body rose up, revealing that a mummy held Yama's treasure. With a wild spin, the mummy burst open the linens that secured him arms, revealing a chain that held the case to him.

The mummy put up a tough fight for the group, as he spread around disease with every hit he made. After all of the heroes made it into the room, he let forth a black fog from his mouth. This caught everyone but Valtyra off guard, but the party noticed that they felt generally weaker. The monk got a few blows onto Yama and Arvel that left behind spreading black marks. Yama stabbed his blades into the creature with one final swing, as the mummy began to spin around wildly. It stopped, locking it's gaze with Yama. It's jaw, already dislodged, fell to the floor, as the light faded from his eyes. The linens begin to fall apart, and fell into a pile onto the floor. The scroll case landed softly on the pile as well.

Yama eagerly picked up the scroll case. Inspecting it, he could tell that this was made out of adamantine, but also has 5 locks on it total. It took quite a bit of time for Yama to pick the locks on the case. Inside, greater treasure awaited for the group. Numerous scrolls awaited in here, all which Yama carefully pulled out of the case He could tell that they were quite fragile, so handling them could be extremely dangerous to them.

All of these scrolls were written in Thassilonian, which Naolexa and Dov studied. Yama was able to read these as well, but it didn't make sense as to why. He then remembered the strange gold ioun stone that orbited him, and immediately caught on that it was likely the reason.
The scrolls held powerful magics, all of which the casters were eager to find. Two other important things were in this, however. One was the Writ of Entry and Access, which read the following (in Thassilonian):


WRIT OF ENTRANCE AND ACCESS

To be presented to the clockwork librarian of the Therassic Library for the securing of full access to all archives held within.

Ware the shining guardians, for they guard the library without bias, and any who would enter are counted thieves and vandals to be slaughtered.

Speak aloud the name of the Master Architect, Viosanxi, afore entry is attempted via the bronze doors, if thou wouldst avoid their blinding wrath.


Furthermore, a larger scroll puzzled the group. Naolexa unwound it, and the writing on the scroll shined brightly. After that initial flash, the light died down and revealed another magic spell written in Thassilonian. This was Deathwine, which Naolexa went ahead and cast. After the potion converted to a dark red liquid, the scroll wound itself up, and despite any efforts that Naolexa or Dov had, they could not open the scroll again.

They returned to the upper floor, but the strain on the party to recover from the monks flurry caused the heroes to need some rest. Philip used his staff once more to move stone and seal off the door. Naolexa found enough room to summon a small shack to which the Heroes all piled into to try and get some rest for the rest of the trials that lie before them.

With the two roads, the party took some time to recover. Philip took some time in the morning to obtain a prophecy from one of his spells, Legend Lore. After communing for quite some time, he received the following riddle, of which he quickly jotted down so he could remember:


The Prophecy

The valley of Jorgenfist holds many mysteries and rumors, yet none so well known as the darkness of the Black Tower. Adventurers who come to this place seeking the caves interiors need first to visit the monk who resides in the tower, lest your adventure only lead to your death.

Mokurian resides here, and has spent much time building an army. He plans to raid the rest of Varisia, but is it his own flag he flies? Or does he serve another king? Nevertheless, he has numerous allies here who all assist him with his endeavors.

Should you find his dragon, he only serves out of pride.
Should you find the hill giant, you find his assistant to his rituals.
Should you find his kobold, you find an ally quick to anger.
Should you find his advisor, do not be so quick to judge.
Should you find his captives, they have a higher purpose than what they know.
Should you find his matriarchs, they are an ally from a different army.
Should you find his trolls, they guard the door to a ruin below.
Should you find his Mokurian himself, prepare for your demise.


With this information, they at least knew what they needed to locate within Jorgenfist. After determining what the game plan was proceed through this cave, Nevik determined that he could scout ahead and see what lies before them. He proceeded to the north, where he found a very small room that went off the normal path. A stone giant looked over the ground level of the pit here.

He skipped this to proceed further in, and found a mess hall area. It was relatively empty, but the kitchen area that was connected to the room did still have the cook. She was still cooking, but was too far away for him to determine what. He snuck through this room, and through a small tunnel to the north. This connected to another room, but this one was smaller and had a small altar.

He observed a stone giant pace back and forth here, and she muttered words to herself. She looked worried, but since she was speaking in giant, Nevik was unable to determine what was being said. He carefully returned to the room with the rest of the party, and they formulated a plan to teleport close to the room with this stone giant. The heroes cautiously walked into the room, it didn't take long for her to notice the group. She immediately began speaking in giant to the group, and then corrected herself to common so that everyone could understand her:


Female Stone Giant
I don't have much time, but know that if you are here to slay Mokmurian, I am your ally. We can speak here in peace, and I wish to speak of your quarrel here. Without my help, you might only find your graves below Jorgenfist.


She introduced herself as Conna the Wise, Mokmurian's adviser. SHe explained that several years ago, Mokmurian slayed her husband to obtain control over this area. She served as an adviser just to save her own life, but secretly planned for a chance of vengeance. now with the Heroes here to presumably kill Mokmurian, perhaps they can work together to meet a similar goal. She knows much about these caves and can willingly speak on the creatures that inhabit here. She also warned the Heroes that should they try to enter the library without speaking with the monk first, they would likely die. She explained that the monk waited in the Black Tower, and that they should see him first.



The heroes were very willing to allow Conna to help exact her revenge, and welcomed her to come along. The group worked their way back down to the hallway outside of the smaller room, as Conna described this to be the general's room. They rushed into the room, Conna screaming "The time for the uprising is now!" as she flung bright green rays of acid onto the general. The group flayed his mind, tearing away his mental capacities. Naolexa then put him to sleep and Nevik finished him off.

They just cut down an important figure in the army, but what of this monk? What does the Black Tower have in store for the group?

The group ventured through the maze like tunnels found back here. Small critters scampered across the cave walls, and the party dealt with minor enemies, such as slimes, with no issues.

When they saw torch light coming through a longer tunnel, they knew they reached the end. However, before they could reach this, a new foe stood before them. Gnomes, who had bloodsoaked red caps, and incredibly large scythes. The group had to maneuver around each other, but after a few brutal kicks to the ankles, they group put these nuisances to rest. Continuing through, they found a larger room. Vincent lead the group, and when he stepped into the room, he saw a kolbold on the other side of the room.

She had her spear readied, and immediately screamed at Vincent, "Finally! I've been itching for a fight! My name is Enga Keckvia, and you shall die!" She immediately began flinging rocks from her sling at Vincent, as the group piled into the room to try and get a hold on the situation. They endured the blows that the kolbold laid down, and after enough trading, the kolbold tried to retreat back into the caves. Naolexa froze her in her tracks, while Nevik and Vincent lined up to end her completely. They took what they could from her, which included a very dangerous necklace, which could have been used on the party.

Nevik took this moment to hand the staff that he found early to Philip. After analyzing it, Philip knew this was a powerful boon that he just gained. He immediately used the staff to move earth and seal the room completely so that the party may rest and relax. Many foes lay ahead of them, so caution must be taken within the caves.

Our Heroes could see the giants at the watch tower, roughly two hundred feet away. Near a bonfire that burned next to the tower, two giants were throwing material on to it, as smoke billowed up higher and higher. The party knew this was a smoke signal, and could easily tell that things going forward wouldn't be exactly easy.

Naolexa had the idea to cast a poisonous cloud of gas on the two lower giants, in attempts to whittle away at their health. As she casted, a rock came flying through the air almost instantly, crashing in Naolexa just as she finished the spell.

A barrage of rocks slew forth from the three giants, as one moved closer and closer to Naolexa. Nevik stuck to the mountain side, and got in close to the other giant. The tall giant ducked down into the tower after a bit, and emerged from the tower. She stabbed into Nevik , Vincent, and Valtyra easily, all the while the other giant slamming his great club all over the place.

Things looked grim for Nevik and Vincent. Naolexa managed to sleep one of the giants, while Valtyra had to focus her efforts on healing. Shalelu pelted her targets with arrows, but had a few mishaps with her bow. When all seemed bleak, when it seemed that Vincent would have to watch Nevik fall, and then see himself fall...

Reiner and Malia rushed in on the scene. Seeing the bloody mess not only near him but also where Nevik was, he knew what he had to do. Malia went over to the giant who lay sleeping, and performed a cooup de grace. Luckily, after a few death gurgles, the giant succumbed to his wounds.

Vincent thought fast, and rushed over to Nevik. Luckily, the giant was distracted and didn't take a swing at him. Quickly, he teleported back to where the other casters were. Valtyra now stood between the giants and the party, as Reiner rushed as quickly as he could into the fray. Faster than expected, Reiner cut down the other giant, and brought the lady giant to her knees. She attempted feebly to stab at Reiner, but was unable to hold her spear steady. Reiner cut her down and returned to his friends to make sure they were okay. They focused their efforts on healing, but knew that if this is what lay ahead, they could be in over their heads.

While Philip and Naolexa toiled over the loot, appraising it and determining the magic properties of them, Nevik climbed to the top of the tower. He was able to get a better look at the area, and an attempt to see what lay ahead for them. He could see that the camps that were visible near the ring of towers were a buzz with giants, and a lot of them. He spotted around forty ogres in one camp alone, while the next closest one had eleven stone giants.

He relayed this information, and the party knew that their only course of action was to rest somewhere secluded and make a plan. Philip took to the air and invisible, scouting over the mountain range to the south. He was able to find a small area that seemed safe from the trouble. He returned to the party, guided them there, and then took to the air again while the party set up camp. He flew around the area, sticking close to the river side. Luckily, he saw two cave entrances near the river. Flying near the entrance of one of them, it smelled of a reptilian stink. The other didn't smell, but was covered in darkness and webs. Knowing he wouldn't be able to deal with this on his own, he returned to camp and relayed the information.

For now, the best course was to stay here one more day and prepare themselves for the road ahead. There were going to be numerous tough fights ahead. They had to prepare themselves for the worst here, lest they be catching up to their death.

The heroes encountered an unexpected night of events during their stay in Ravenmoor. Reiner and Yama protected the town from rabid dire wolves, Nevik saved Naolexa's life from a crazed demon lord worshipper, Dov battled with dragons, all while Shalelu, Malia, Valtyra, Vincent, and Philip enjoyed a quiet evening and day of rest at the inn. They even met up with Maester Grump, who some of the heroes ran into in Sandpoint a while back. He helped the heroes reveal the mystery of their newly found egg; an axebeak would soon hatch from this.

Revitalized and excited for their journey, the group left Ravenmoor to the north east. They ventured closer and closer to the Storval Stairs, but on their journey, heard a unexpected noise: panicked moo-ing. A group of ogres were traveling through the area, each with a cow slung of their shoulder, still alive and frighting for freedom. The heroes intervened with the beasts, saving a few of the cows in the process. One ogre got away, but not before Shalelu got an arrow or two in it.

The finally made it to the bottom of the Storval Stairs. A incredibly large incline awaited them, and the only way up was to climb the steps.
