Much has happened since we last checked in with our adventurers.

The wing they last inhabited was controlled by a powerful necromancer, Azaven, who gave the party a bit of trouble when he retreated with one of Nevik’s wakizashi’s still skewered into him after Nevik threw them at the flying wizard. After they could not find a trace of Azaven, they decided to move onto the next wing, as Nevik was not completely out of commission without his second wakizashi, and they could simply return here.

The moved their attention to the Halls of Wrath, where a whole slew of evocation spells were flung at our heroes. Warriors of Wrath harnessed the power into their blades, and came in large numbers. Only proving to be of nuisance to the heroes, they encountered the ruler of the dungeon in the grand hall. Highlady Athroxis, accompanied by many of her most trusted associates, gave quite the fight for our Heroes, but eventually fell. When Athroxis died by Reiner’s hand, a magical glyph was transferred from the forehead of Athroxis to Reiner’s. He felt stronger, and this was likely the mark to show who ruled these halls. It is in the shaped of the rune of Wrath. They also discovered the ashes of vengeance needed for Philip’s ritual for the Super Soft, as well as the legendary sword hinted by the book Reiner read.

Afterwards, they visited the final wing of the Runeforge, The Shimmering Veils, which belonged to the sin of Pride, and the magic school of illusion. As they entered a grandiose image of a peacock inhabited a large, mirrored room. Reiner, unsure of the image, swung his new sword at the image. He discovered this was an illusion, and thus his blade simply passed right through. However, during this, their reflections in the mirror seemed to spring to life, and our heroes had to battle exact replicas of each other. While Shalelu did fall during this, she was quickly brought back to life using the last resurrection scroll provided by the Black Monk. After the fight, they discovered a secret room, where the body of the ruler of the wing lie dead, perfectly preserved. They looted a few things, and gained valuable information from his journal entries, including how to exit the Runeforge.

They couldn’t leave without doing two things first, though. First, they needed to recover Nevik’s wakizashi. Second, they had gathered ingredients vital for enchanting a weapon with the power to greatly aid their fight against Karzoug. They turned their attention to recovering the wakizashi, and returned to the Ravenous Crypts to hunt down Azaven. He put up a tough fight once they found him, but he eventually fell.

They turned to do their final task in the Runeforge: enchant a weapon with the power to greatly aid in their fight against Karzoug. The party collaborated, and agreed that Reiner’s new greatsword was the best candidate for the powerful enchantment. He entered the shards of the mirrors from the Shimmering Veil, along with the ‘toy’ gifted to them by Delvahine, with his sword into the pool in the center of the Runeforge. It glowed a bright blue, and began to swirl. That swirling continued as the bright blue enchantment surrounded the blade. He lifted the weapon out of the water once the glow surrounded the blade completely, and raised it high as the glow faded.

Suddenly, an explosion of water burst out from the pool and a bright yellow light shot out straight past Reiner and hit the Karzoug statue that was directly behind the party. The statue animated and enlarged, as the party was now suddenly face to face with a gigantic stone golem of Karzoug. It’s voice boomed through the room: “You. Again. Your optimism is inspiring, but this is where you will fall. Your weapons cannot save you, the Runeforge will be your grave.”

The party fought valiantly, with the casters retreating to safety immediately, replaced by Reiner, Nevik, and Valtyra, who all rushed in to confront the construct. The status focused all of its attention on Reiner, likely due to him having the new weapon with the enchantment. The new found power came in handy, despite this statue hitting them incredibly hard and accurately. They quickly dispatched the statue, and as it crumbled, the voice returned “Come then! If you wish your death to be the first before the kingdom of Shalast, then come find me atop Mhar Massif. I will deal with you personally.” Relieved that the dangers of the Runeforge are all but gone now, they gathered their loot left behind, and used the exit portal in the Halls of Wrath, after discovering its existence through the journal notes from Vraxeris, the previous ruler of the Shimmering Veils.

The heroes returned to Sandpoint, and immediately handled the selling of all of the various loot. If they couldn’t find a buyer within town, they traveled to Magnimar to find someone to purchase the numerous items off of their hands. They profited greatly, as adventurers normally do. They now needed to prepare themselves for a powerful fight, but first needed to find out how to get there

The party toiled over the Scribbler's riddle, trying to determine it's purpose and the location of the Runeforge. Vincent helped decipher it, and they found out that the Runeforge is located way up north, at Lake Stormunder's northeastern shore. Rimeskull houses 7 different pillar, and if given a spell of the appropriate school, they would provide a key.

After finding the lake on the map, our Heroes set off to Magnimar, to hire a boat and crew to take them to Brinewall. This northern city was not very well visited, and Nevik had some hesitancy to go there. He declared he would never set foot in that town ever again, but despite this off-puttedness, the party sailed from Brinewall. Once they arrived, they stayed the night, enjoying themselves. The next morning, the group traveled to the nearby lake, and flew across it's waters.

They ascended the mountain with little trouble, and arrived at the fabled location: a ring of seven statues. They quickly went to work with the statues, retrieving the keys quickly. Each one, when having the proper spell casted on it, absorbed the spell and began to glow. It would shake the ground, and make a very high pitched trill noise. These would eventually subside, and the key would appear in the statue's mouth.

However, something sinister was at work, as a wall of ice suddenly appeared to block off the entrance to the stairs and also the way they came. A bellowing voice came about "WHO DARES DISTURB THIS ANCIENT SHRINE?" "We seek entrance to the Runeforge." Valtyra responded.
"THEN YOU SHALL DIE".

Arkrhyst reared his ugly face on our Heroes, flying near the mountain, and declaring the hero's death. Despite Vincent and Valtyra's offer to speak with it, He blasted Vincent, Yama, and Naolexa with a frosty breath. Yama courageously darted straight for the dragon to begin his work, but the dragon met him in kind with numerous attacks, nearly killing Yama twice.

Philip, with a bit of luck and quick thinking, polymorphed the dragon into a goose. Naolexa then finished off Arkrhyst with a suffocation spell, causing the bird to plummet to his death 200+ ft below. Naolexa flew after him, after learning that Philip actually needed the scales from him. She retrieved the bird, dispelled the magic, and got the scales from the now dead dragon.

The heroes turned to the stairs, knowing they had to ascend them, and enter the cave above. Would they find this dragon's hoard? Would they find the Runeforge? Both?

Who knew what awaited them?

Nevik did not return back to the party, so naturally the group went in after him after a bit. THey could not find Nevik, but did find the same room that he did. Only this time, Yama led, and he noticed that two sides of the room had massive webs attached to them. Of course, when an adventurer sees webs, they immediately think to burn it, so thus Yama requested Dov or Naolexa chuck a fireball in there to burn those up. Dov obliged, using his staff to fire to launch fire in the room and clearing up the webs quickly. Yama rushed into the room, just fast enough to see the giant spider on the ceiling launch a web bolt at him. Yama was entangled in the center of the room. Naolexa, not fond of spiders in any sense, petrified the creature on the ceiling. The now spider-statue came crashing down from the ceiling, in line to hit Yama. Luckily, he managed to cut himself free, and then dodge out of the wall before the statue hit the ground, shattering.

The group wrote down the fifth stanza, as Yama pushed open the stone door leading north. A dark hallway lined with fog lay beofre him, as he strolled right in. However, before his party could follow him, Yama came rushing right back out, babbling about how his friends were going to sacrifice him to Lamashtu, and he had to get out of here. Dov and Naolexa unsuccessfully tried to stop him, as he bolted back through the tunnels they came from. The party took it as he was just making it up, but just in case tried to deal with the fog in the hallway. After unseccussful attempts with various fire spells, Naolexa casted dispel magic in the area. While it didn’t dispel the fog, it seemed to have dispelled something. She casted a flaming sphere to burn up the fog, and act as a leading beacon through the hallway.

It led them to a door, and as they opened it, they saw only a table with an inkwell and a quill of a peacock’s feather sitting in it. Valtyra approached the table, but was suddenly struck by a spell. It stopped her only for a moment, as she continued on in. She quickly snagged the quill, threw it into her bag, noticed a body on the north wall, and then escaped back out the hallway (in fear of being damaged again). The casters looked at the quill in detailed, and determined it harmless, and actually quite useful to them. Valtyra, however, wanted to look closer at the body found in the room, to see if she could identify the reason for death. She was hit even hard this time, but still fought her way back in. The body had numerous bones broken in several places, along with bits of skin missing here and there. The exact cause of death is uncertain, but it’s likely this was one of the guards, and he was sacrificed to Lamashtu.

They returned to the spider’s room just in time to hear the following ring throughout the shrine:
You come into my domain, you kill my minions, and you take my possessions. The time for talk is over, prepare to die, my sucklings!

Yama, who had managed to flee all the way back to the cathedral area, was ambushed by not only the source of the voice, but also the two remaining hounds, and 2 demons who wielded two bows at the same time, via the use of four arms.

Yama snapped out of it, but only after the hounds closed in on him, and the man known as the “Scribbler” already started summoning additional help. He summon in a hezrou, which reeked of an odor that Yama just couldn’t ignore. He took him out quickly, but the hounds already flanked him, and they succeeded in pulling him to the floor. The Scribbler took the chance to charge in, swinging wildly at Yama. Luckily, Yama had recently enchanted his armor to save him at the last moment, as he received a breath a life spell just as he felt himself go unconcious. This, however, did not fix the problem that he was on the ground. His rogue resiliency saved him once more, but he had no choice but to attack from the ground. With the spontaneity of a monkey, he stabbed wildly at the Scribbler’s legs, forcing him to his knees, to where Yama could deliver the final blow. Just as quickly as the threat presented himself, Yama took it out just as fast.

The party was able to make it to the cathedral just in time to see this occur, and went to work trying to mop up the rest of the group. Dov became the main target for one of the arrow demons, and nearly killed him from all of the shots fired. Yama took the attention of that one, however, after Dov broke off line of sight to heal. Valtyra assisted with the healing, while Dov encased the second arrow demon in ice, sealing his fate with a cold, frozen death. The hounds and demons were taken care of, and the known threat below Sandpoint dealt with.

The group can report their findings to Father Zantus and Sheriff Hemlock, and try to decipher the stanzas while licking their wounds. Where is this Runeforge mentioned? The ancient library spoke of needing the Runeforge to not only attune their weapons to fight Karzoug, but Valtyra needed it to finish her prototype of a hand cannon. Much is in store for our heroes...

As the group rounded the corner to the final hallway that led the to Mokmurian, he casted a fog like spell that poisoned the very air. He also prepared a new foe for the party to face, younger bulettes in training. The party had to deal with cut visibility due to the fog, while the bulettes snuck in and around the members. The bulettes proved to be no problem for the group, however Mokmurian pegged them with various spells, and kept disappearing from sight. Valtyra eventually worked her way towards the area Mokmurian was in, only to be smacked into the face by his massively enchanted club. While the party duked it out, Valtyra went unconscious while Philip unfortunately met his fate to Mokmurian. Yama snuck around behind him and slew the giant, while Shalelu brought Valtyra, Philip’s only hope, back to conciousness. They used one of the resurrection scrolls they found on the Black Monk to bring Philip back after the fight.

However, the body of Mokmurian animated, and left the players with a eerie speech. The voice speaking was not of Mokmurian’s, but of whoever controlled his body:
So these are the heroes of the age. More like gasping worms to me -- worms to be crushed back into the earth when I awaken the armies of Xin-Shalast, when the name Karzoug is again spoken with fear and awe. Know that the deaths of those marked by the sihedron -- the giants you have so conveniently slain for me -- hasten my return, just as yours soon will. Fools, all of you. Is this all you could manage in ten thousand years?

He ends with a hearty laugh, as the body goes lifeless again, the mysterious voice fading away.

The party, while offput by the speech, gathered their loot, grabbed Zaki, and teleported back to Sandpoint for a much needed rest and break while they collect their thoughts on what to do next.

The rogue in the party eventually were able to get into position, and knock the golem down. The group fiddled and debated about what to do with the cauldron, while Dov and Naolexa stayed out of the smoke.
Unfortunately, a creature they had not seen before decided this was the best opportunity to ambush the party. A Scanderig, known to swim through the earth and eat minerals, appeared right behind the casters. Yama rushed in while the rest decided to escape. Yama got lucky when the Scanderig accidentally blinded itself, allowing Yama to tear it to shreds.

Yama joined up with the group at the entrance to the next room, where undead were detected by Valtyra. Yama rushed in again, getting a view of the room. He saw a headless statue come to life, and sprinted straight towards it. He attempted to jump up on top of the creature, but failed as an ax came crashing down on him. He took some hefty blows from the Headless Lord, but Yama fell him before going down. The other statues in the room had already animated at this point, surrounding Yama. While Yama did go under at one point, his resiliency took into effect, allowing him to get some healing before continuing on his spree. They handled these targets with ease, despite Yama almost losing his life.

With a mighty heave, Vincent, Nevik, and Valtya pushed open the Sihedron doors. They grinded on the stone frame, revealing a large room, with dirt on the floor, and seven large tree trunk drove into the ground as if stakes. On the far back wall, a large sihedron was displayed, while next to each tree trunk, a small brazier with a brand could be seen. Each of the tree trunks had a manacle set bound into them. Three of these manacles were occupied by none other than Ameiko, Greyland, and Shayliss Vinder from Sandpoint.

The heroes were unable to determine who they were at first because the room was dark, and only lit by the braziers. They approached each of the hostages, who were unconscious, and released them from their bounds. However, when Phillip was the last to enter the room fully, a large rumble from the ground could be heard, as a giant rose from the earth itself. This giant was larger than anything the group had ever seen before, and immediately attacked Shalelu with it's club. Nevik went to work, dodging behind a tree trunk and around the giant. Surprising him with a sneak attack, Nevik made quick work of this giant, as he came toppling to the ground.

After they released and healed the hostages to conciousness, the heroes addressed the brands found on the Sandpoint villager's chest. The sihedron was burned into these three. Not knowing it's purpose, the heroes would have to revisit the issue once they knew more information.

After looting the giant, they left the room and returned to Conna. They left the hostages in her care, as she directed them where they needed to go to get to Mokmurian's ruins. They had two options; a less aggressive approach using the eastern path from Enga's room or taking a nearby passage that would deal with Mokmurian's more powerful allies.

The group decided that the allies would be best to take out now so that they don't haunt them later, so they left the Sandpoint Villagers with Conna, and turned towards the darkened tunnel. The tunnel was not dark due to light, however. It was darkened from ash and soot on the wall. Seeing this, Nevik scouted ahead, and found 2 red dragons around the corner. After relaying to the party, the heroes decided the best course of action was to talk to the dragons first before attacking. Cautiously, the party spoke with the dragons, which was met with figurative firey breath in response. In speaking with them, however, they determined that the dragons were under the effects of charm magic. They dispelled the magic on them, and they almost instantly turned tail in a flurry to the other room.

The heroes followed in suit to find the dragons in battle with creatures they had not seen before; lamias. Half-human, half-lion, these creatures showed to be powerful adversaries. Who knew what would come next, as the battle raged on.

The Heroes had to act fast. Naolexa was worried about her mother, hearing the Pixie's Kitten was in danger. She used dimension door to get herself, Valtyra, and Philip as close to Pixie's Kitten as possible. Vincent, Reiner, and Yama wanted to intervept the retreating boss, while Nevik, Malia, and Shalelu took a round-a-bout way to scout and keep Malia safe.

Vincent, Reiner, and Yama teleported to a 3 way intersection to get themselves in front of the boss. This landed them in a position not exactly favorable, as they suddenly noticed they were outnumbered and surrounded by an additional 6 giants. They had to act fast if this was going to work; they were going to focus all of their attention on the boss, then dimension door again to teleport to safety. They wailed on the boss, and while they were pelted by rocks, managed to slay him in one fell swoop. They quickly left the scene, seeing the despaired look on the giant's face as they left.

Naolexa, Philip, and Valtyra were able to land on a dock near the Pixie's Kitten, with only a short jog over. They rushed over to find a stone giant holding a bag, accompainied by two bears. They worked to try and bring the sitution in their favor by charming the bears to turn against the giant. As they had some success with this, they were unable to control one of the bears from tearing into them. However, the previous group teleported into the scene to help clean up this rabble. The giant managed to get a vital hit on Yama, crushing his throat. He still fought bravely, as he slowly suffocated. Luckily, the foes fell just as Yama went unconcious from the loss of breath, giving Valtyra the opportunity to address the situation. He was healed up as best as possible. Naolexa helped her mother out of the bag, who had only taken minor injuries. They looked upon the building of the Pixie's Kitten, now with a gaping hole in its front. The other heroes eventually teleported over to Thanning's house with the others.

Nevik, Malia, and Shalelu originally tried to set themselves up on top of the roofs to help with the boss fight, but they others dissapeared before they made themselves noticed. They then turned their attention to a group of three giants they spotted eariler, who had bagged Thanning Catum. Malia swallowed her pride, and stood against the giants bravely. She acted as a decoy to let Nevik attempt to drop down on the giants, and Shalelu riddle them with arrows. They managed to take one down, but two more remained, and they were broken and bruised.

Just then, Reiner, Vincent, and Philip teleported over to this area hearing the commotion, and helped tear through the giant towering over Malia, ready to smash her to the ground. The final giant was already retreating, and went into a full out sprint once the other giant fell. Reiner, enlarged still from an eariler spell, followed in pursuit. Using his genie bloodline, he closed the gap and attempted to trip the giant to stop him completely. Sadly, the giant saw this coming and stood firm. However, when he continued to retreat, Reiner caught him in the leg, drug him closer, and finished him for good. The bag fell to the ground and a feeble Thanning crawled out.

Nevik took the opportunity while near the Bottled Solutions to try and find some healing potions to help with the damage. He snuck into the building, but the owner of the store was there. Frightened already, Nevik threatened him, stating that he needed the best healing potions he has, and all of them. THe storeowner hesitated a moment, then quickly scampered to the back room when Nevik stated that more will die if he does not provide this. He rushed out with 24 potions of Cure Moderate Wounds, plenty of healing to even help soothe Yama's repairing throat. Nevik gladly took these, and stated that the Heroes owed the shopkeep one.

Vincent, Philip, and Naolexa teleported over to again intercept the giant with the bag that Reiner was intercepting, in the event he wasn't able to catch him. They were close to the general store, but sadly a second too late. Giants far to the north, near the Old Light again, were seen running. The players exausted their options to hunt them down, and saw the gaping hole in the Vinder's general store.

The group prepared themselves as the giant slowly moved it's way over. It downed a potion while he approached, and rested his hand on one of his picks. He saw an opportunity arise while the party moved about, and he threw the smaller of his two picks. It was aimed directly at Valtyra.

It hit with sure accuracy, and severed her right arm off. Carried by the momentum, her arm smacked Vincent in the face, and the pick went crashing into the raised platform that Shalelu stood on.

While the party tried to handle the situation, the giant had made it close enough to speak.

???: "Are you certain you want to fight? You seem to have a member not fully functional. I offer to you a bargain; let us leave the town peacefully at this point, and we will spare your lives. Stop us, and you will die beneath the foot of the Plateau People."

Reiner, worried about Valtyra wounds, gripped his sword tight, and stood to face to giant. The others tried to help Valtyra get it under control, but Valtyra insisted she would be fine and told them to worry about the giants.

???: "Very well. Men?"

Before, the giant only showed himself. However, behind the houses, other stone giants were waiting, along with another dire bear. The party was certain they were outpowered by these numbers, but stood against their foes.

Naolexa conjured up a Wall of Ice, in an attempt to bottleneck the forces straight to Reiner. Yama used the opportunity of tall ice columns to climb on top of them, ready to get the drop down on the enemy. Vincent did what he could to help assist by casting haste and get a few bow shots off, and Shalelu fired a barrage of arrows on the enemy. Valtyra handled her wounds as best as she could, just in attempts of stopping the bleeding. She wavered a few times, but managed to keep herself alive through out all of it.

The group slew 4 of the giants before the mysterious leader decided to retreat back into the town. The remaining giant followed after him when the bear was defeated, and the party decided not to give immediate chase to help Valtyra deal with her continuing wounds. Yama, not well-versed in the medical fields, took the opportunity to get a vantage point from a rooftop to keep an eye on the boss.

When he did, he also saw that there were numerous villagers being stuffed into bags. He caught sight of a few isntances, but since he was not from Sandpoint, he didn't recognize the people. He saw a human female being snagged from the Pixie's Kitten (Kaye Tesarani, Naolexa's mother), a Tengu male being stolen from the Rusty Dragon (Greyland, one of Dov's tribes members), a human wizard, being defended by a tiny bird who pecked at the giant's hand (Thanning Catum, Naolexa's childhood friend), and finally a red-headed human woman from the general store (Shayliss Vinder, who at a tryst with Nevik eariler this year). Other villagers also were being grabbed, but they were not as well seen as these four.

The group had to act fast if they wanted to rescue them all, but how would they go about doing it, and taking out the retreating leader?

Luckily for the town, the Garrison was mainly made out of stone, so it was able to take the dragon’s fire and not catch fire. The Heroes knew they had to get the dragon’s attention and away from people. They needed space, and the best place there was in Sandpoint aside from outside it was in front of the Sanctuary. The Heroes, some still bolstered by haste, swiftly moved over to the open area and set themselves up to lure the dragon. Dov knew that dragons in general were not only greedy creatures, but also prideful. They would not stand down from a challenge, and Reiner was just their man to stand up to a dragon fearlessly.

The dragon, perched upon the garrison, was swooping down to eat random villagers and cause chaos, enjoying every second of it. A moment later, arrows flew by the dragon’s head, one hitting the dragon. Shalelu, from near the church steps, was impressively firing arrows over 200 feet to hit her target. This was enough to at least get the dragon’s attention, as Reiner also fired a shot that passed right by the dragon’s eye. As it did, he yelled at the dragon to fight him if he was looking for a fight. The dragon smirked, and began its flight over to Reiner, where the rest of the party was prepped to lay into this dragon.

As it landed, Naolexa immediately was attempting to hex it, while Reiner, Arvel, Nevik, and Yama all went in to strike at the beast. Dov slowed the dragon, as Valtyra buffed Reiner’s defenses. It took our heroes little time to damage the dragon enough to scare it away. Nevik leaped onto its back, but unfortunately was knocked to the ground as it took flight. Fortunately, Dov’s Slow spell prevented the dragon move moving its full speed, so it was still in range for Naolexa and Dov to get two final lightning bolts crashing towards it. This was enough to kill the dragon outright, as it came tumbling to the ground. After the dust settled, the sound of a war horn pierced through the air. As the Heroes looked to the west, they saw a stone giant dressed in different garbs. He stood near the Old Light, and had the heroes right in his sights.

Feburary 17th, 2015
Needing to know the rest of what this cave had in store for them, our Heroes opted Nevik to do some scouting ahead to find out what else remained, and what the biggest threat was. He borrowed Philip's ring, and went to work.

He discovered that there were two other rooms in the cave; one with a single man standing in front of an altar, while the other room was the largest of all. It had two stone giants and a whole slew of humans in the room.

Taking this back to the group, they needed to decide what the biggest threat was; the room full of ogres, the one "big-bad" as they referred to him as, or the room with the stone giants?

Weighing their options, they decided that the "big-bad" should be first priority.

Sneaking up onto the room, they wanted Nevik to set himself up so he can get the spring up on the enemy first. Vincent quicken the pace with haste, as the group went to work. Nevik noticed something while sneaking up on the target: This creature donned the symbol of the Black Arrows, and wore a crown. Reiner came crashing into the scene, however, eager to lay a heavy hit into the fiend. It came to attention at that point, that this creature was undead. A frost wight, which was then assumed to be the missing commander, Lamatar. Knowing he was undead, our heroes rather wanted to show him peace than mercy, and quickly slew him after a short battle.

A howling wind came blowing through the wind, carrying the screaming of a woman.

Return my beloved to me! Return my commander to my heart, or I shall find him with my vines and my dark trees will eat the land and churn your people to bone and misery. Return Lamatar to my embrace!

Being immediately frightened for their future and safety, they removed his armor and weapons and shoved the remains of his body in one of Philip's burlap sacks. Being left with two choices here, however: deal with the forge or deal with the stone giants. After discussing the issue thoroughly, they decided the forge would be better to take so that the reported 11 ogres do not ambush them during their fight with the stone giants.

They prepared themselves for a heavy fight. Vincent caused one of the campfires in this room to burst with light, blinding the tougher looking ogre and a few others. Reiner came crashing him, sweeping the tougher ogre off of his legs, while Nevik got a running start a leaped an incredible distance, bringing the blade down into his foe. The ogres began to gang up around Reiner, who then doubled in size and strength and met eye to eye with the ogres.

The tougher ogre died before he could even get up, which cause a good number of the other ogres to panic. Some of them began running towards the staircase, trying to escape. They met toe-to-toe with Vincent, who immediately used fearing magic to cause them to flee back into the room. As Shalelu, Valtyra, and Philip all took swings and shots at the weaker ogres, eventually all of the ogres lie dead on the cold ground Within a matter of a minute or two, the room of 11 ogres was massacred, with no sight of Malia.

They traveled to the final room, not knowing anything of what will happen, but expecting answers. They discovered that the humans in the room were undead, dressed in slave's rags. However, one person was next to the throne occupied by one of the stone giants. It was Malia.

The Black Magga towered over not only the our heroes, but also over the building of the town. It slowly progressed through the town, grabbing villagers, smashing buildings, and splattering the villagers against buildings here and there.

The group started a distance away from Black Magga, as Naolexa and Dov began shooting lightning bolts down towards the beast. They noticed that there was an issue, however, as sometimes the lightning didn't effect her at all. Yama and Nevik split up, climbing up on top of the buildings to try to get at eye level with the beast. Yama managed to cut through the beast's flesh, as it immediately snatched him up in a tentacle. Vincent began bolstering morale, as he attempted to shoot from a distance, as Shalelu did the same with her bow. Valtyra supported as best as she could, despite the fact that she could not see the beast.

The beast through Yama, and began to leave back for the lake, when Nevik leaped upon the creature's neck and drove his wakazashi into the demigod. Naolexa threw a fireball down towards the beast, putting Nevik at risk of being caught in the blast, but she brought the terror down to the ground. Nevik gouged deep in her chest to be sure, as the sudden roar of the villager's cheering came from all directions.

Seen as Heroes in this area, they received much praise. Maelin Shreed worked his way from the church to where they were, and offered his congratulations. He spoke solemnly, however, after looking north out of town.

MAELIN: "Well, we can rebuild that bridge no problem, barring no ogrekin interruptions, but something tells me there is a problem at the dam. Skull's Crossing was the only thing holding the Storval Deep from expanding over this town, and the Black Magga was known to inhabit there. I can't say if she is the cause of the flood, but either way, there must be something wrong at the dam. Can I ask you heroes to look into it? I will reward you as best as this village can."

YAMA: "Now now, we did just save your town from utter destruction. We could use the funds to stock up for a trip up to the dam, we don't know what might be up there."

MAELIN: He thinks to himself for a moment, and then speaks, "Fair enough, I believe we can spare 1000 gold pieces for each of you. We have a fair amount of material from the spoils you have brought from your adventures here, so trade may bolster for our supply."

VINCENT: "I'll take half, keep the 500g to help your village recover from this tragedy."

MAELIN: "That is well appreciated, good sir. Now, friends, shall you rest before or after looking into our dam?"

The party all decided rest would be the best idea for the group, and then they will head out tomorrow. What awaits them at Skull's Crossing?

The Heroes searched the room for any other items on interest in the Captain's quarters, and they noticed the nearby wine cabinet. Naolexa quickly snatched up the one bottle of wine that was intact, and Dov noticed it was quite the find. However, the group all noticed that some of the wood of this cabinet was warped, and revealed a small compartment. They peeled off the wood to find three things: a wooden coffer, a pair of olive green boots, and a silver locket. Naolexa, finding a pair of shoes in her favorite color, immediately took the boots and put them on. Vincent inspected the locket, and by opening it found a lock of golden hair. This was identified as nymph hair. The coffer, however, revealed the most interesting information, as it contained numerous parchments that contained sonnets to a Myriana, and detailed the Whisperwood. Luckily, Dov recognized the name of Whisperwood, knowing it was close to the Shimmerglens, both southwest of Turtleback Ferry.

Jakradros and Jubrayl never knew of their commander, Lamatar, to have a creative side. As they thought for a while, they remembered that Lamatar would take 2-3 days journey every month as "communion" walks. It was possible that this was cover up to go see this Myriana, but it just so hapened to be that the ogres attacked Fort Rannick while Lamatar was away. Eager to find out the status of their commander, they noted that perhaps it would be worth it to head in that direction to find this Myriana, and perhaps Lamatar.

However, they need to wrap things up here at the Fort. They moved along to the lower floor, and ran into a sight they never expected to see: pillows, fine fabric rugs, and exotic incense filled this small room found down here. Near the back of the room, a beautiful woman stood, wine glass in hand.

???: "So good of you to join me, I take it you were the ones causing the ruckus upstairs. Who might you be?"

Valtyra, at the front of the group who waited patiently in the hallway , spoke with this woman. She described herself as the leader of these ogres, her name being Lucrecia. She stated that "Mokmurian would love to meet you." as Valtyra scoffed.

VALTYRA: "Do you have anything to do with the Sihedron?"
LUCRECIA: "Indeed, what do you know of it?"
VALTYRA: "We ended it's operations in Magnimar. Some bitch by the Xanesha ran the organization of it all, but now she lies in the dirt."
LUCRECIA: "Ah, sister is dead, is she? Well, that's unfortunate to hear. I will just have to put a stop to you myself!"

With that, she transformed into a large creature with a snake like bottom and human torso, as she whipped two daggers into her hands to attack. The group ran into little issue from her, as she was only able to fail at casting a spell on Valtyra before being pounded into the floor. Jakradros riddled her with arrows along with Shalelu, while Dov cast a spell to start climbing the walls. Jubrayl and Vincent laid into her with their rapiers, sliving into her with deep cuts. Naolexa hexed her into lowering her defenses, as Dov managed to color spray her. She dropped her daggers, hands over her eyes, as the final blows were administered. With all of the cuts and slices and arrows into her, Dov finished it off with a blast of searing heat, countering the smell of the incense with burning snake skin. Lucrecia collapsed to the floor, dead, as Vincent riddled her with more holes just to be certain.

They found numerous things upon her, but one in particular was of note: a scroll with numerous names upon it. One in particular was circled however; "Kaven Windstrike". This document also had an intriguing header: "Those who have agreed to grant their greed to the master's need." Puzzled by this, Dov studied it while Vincent and Valtyra looked through the nearby door.

Prison cells lined the walls here, but Valtyra could hear the faint sounds of a light whimper. In the farthest cell from the door, Valtyra came upon the sights of two dwarves: one older, and one younger. The younger of the two was passed out on the floor, while the older one whimpered to himself. Valtyra took pity upon them, and bathed the area in holy light. After getting themselves to their feet, the older dwarf thanked them.

???: "Had you not come, we'd likely would have been the next ogre dinner. I still don't know why were weren't eaten right away..."

The dwarves were traveling merchants, Binwyn and Mardos, who had been all over Varisia in their traveling caravan. Unfortunately, their trip to Fort Rannick ended up sour, as their whole caravan was destroyed, their body guards killed, and for some reason, these two locked up and thrown in the cells. While they are dressed in rags, they offered their services to buy and trade on behalf of the group, and also his son possessed magical capabilities, and might be of some use to the group as well. Valtyra warmly welcomed them, but advised that we should maybe find them some new clothes as soon as we could.

Meanwhile, Naolexa and Dov noticed a small door handle made to be concealed within the stone wall to the south. They pulled it open, and before them was a dark cave before them. Valtyra and Vincent rejoined the group, introduced the dwarves, and prepared themselves to enter the caves...
