Much has happened since we last checked in with our adventurers.

The wing they last inhabited was controlled by a powerful necromancer, Azaven, who gave the party a bit of trouble when he retreated with one of Nevik’s wakizashi’s still skewered into him after Nevik threw them at the flying wizard. After they could not find a trace of Azaven, they decided to move onto the next wing, as Nevik was not completely out of commission without his second wakizashi, and they could simply return here.

The moved their attention to the Halls of Wrath, where a whole slew of evocation spells were flung at our heroes. Warriors of Wrath harnessed the power into their blades, and came in large numbers. Only proving to be of nuisance to the heroes, they encountered the ruler of the dungeon in the grand hall. Highlady Athroxis, accompanied by many of her most trusted associates, gave quite the fight for our Heroes, but eventually fell. When Athroxis died by Reiner’s hand, a magical glyph was transferred from the forehead of Athroxis to Reiner’s. He felt stronger, and this was likely the mark to show who ruled these halls. It is in the shaped of the rune of Wrath. They also discovered the ashes of vengeance needed for Philip’s ritual for the Super Soft, as well as the legendary sword hinted by the book Reiner read.

Afterwards, they visited the final wing of the Runeforge, The Shimmering Veils, which belonged to the sin of Pride, and the magic school of illusion. As they entered a grandiose image of a peacock inhabited a large, mirrored room. Reiner, unsure of the image, swung his new sword at the image. He discovered this was an illusion, and thus his blade simply passed right through. However, during this, their reflections in the mirror seemed to spring to life, and our heroes had to battle exact replicas of each other. While Shalelu did fall during this, she was quickly brought back to life using the last resurrection scroll provided by the Black Monk. After the fight, they discovered a secret room, where the body of the ruler of the wing lie dead, perfectly preserved. They looted a few things, and gained valuable information from his journal entries, including how to exit the Runeforge.

They couldn’t leave without doing two things first, though. First, they needed to recover Nevik’s wakizashi. Second, they had gathered ingredients vital for enchanting a weapon with the power to greatly aid their fight against Karzoug. They turned their attention to recovering the wakizashi, and returned to the Ravenous Crypts to hunt down Azaven. He put up a tough fight once they found him, but he eventually fell.

They turned to do their final task in the Runeforge: enchant a weapon with the power to greatly aid in their fight against Karzoug. The party collaborated, and agreed that Reiner’s new greatsword was the best candidate for the powerful enchantment. He entered the shards of the mirrors from the Shimmering Veil, along with the ‘toy’ gifted to them by Delvahine, with his sword into the pool in the center of the Runeforge. It glowed a bright blue, and began to swirl. That swirling continued as the bright blue enchantment surrounded the blade. He lifted the weapon out of the water once the glow surrounded the blade completely, and raised it high as the glow faded.

Suddenly, an explosion of water burst out from the pool and a bright yellow light shot out straight past Reiner and hit the Karzoug statue that was directly behind the party. The statue animated and enlarged, as the party was now suddenly face to face with a gigantic stone golem of Karzoug. It’s voice boomed through the room: “You. Again. Your optimism is inspiring, but this is where you will fall. Your weapons cannot save you, the Runeforge will be your grave.”

The party fought valiantly, with the casters retreating to safety immediately, replaced by Reiner, Nevik, and Valtyra, who all rushed in to confront the construct. The status focused all of its attention on Reiner, likely due to him having the new weapon with the enchantment. The new found power came in handy, despite this statue hitting them incredibly hard and accurately. They quickly dispatched the statue, and as it crumbled, the voice returned “Come then! If you wish your death to be the first before the kingdom of Shalast, then come find me atop Mhar Massif. I will deal with you personally.” Relieved that the dangers of the Runeforge are all but gone now, they gathered their loot left behind, and used the exit portal in the Halls of Wrath, after discovering its existence through the journal notes from Vraxeris, the previous ruler of the Shimmering Veils.

The heroes returned to Sandpoint, and immediately handled the selling of all of the various loot. If they couldn’t find a buyer within town, they traveled to Magnimar to find someone to purchase the numerous items off of their hands. They profited greatly, as adventurers normally do. They now needed to prepare themselves for a powerful fight, but first needed to find out how to get there

Proceeding into the crypts, the first room they encountered was a large circular room with twelve statues lining the walls, aside from another set of doors. The heroes perceptive eyes caught on easily that the statues were the cover for a hidden door. Reiner and Valytra moved to open one of them to find a sarcophagus disturbed. It was lucky that the one they opened was empty, however, as the other eleven doors sprung open, followed by a loud groan from 6 mummies who showed to be behind these doors. Valyra and Reiner dealt with the ones showing near them, while the other casters hung back and dealt with the others. They noticed that the mummies seemed to target no-one but Naolexa, as they quickly surrounded her, putting her in a very tight spot. Reiner, thinking quickly, tapped into his suli ancestral powers to teleport across the room to slash at these three foes, clearing the way for Naolexa to retreat away from the mummies. Philip unfortuantely took a hit, and managed to contract the disease from them. After all of the mummies were dealt with, they turned to deal with the disease on Philip.

Afterwards, they moved on to find themselves at a four way intersection. The walls lined with impressive murals to what seemed to be four families, each representing something under the rune of gluttony. They moved to the right, managing to find a long hall with a armored clay golem at the end of it. They dealt with this threat before it could even touch them, then inspected the room. They found numerous bottles of wine in the room, which matched the description of the component needed for a gluttony ritual. The sarcophagi in this room were all empty, bodies were not found either. This rang a strange note to the party, but the pressed on to the next room across the way…

Philip readied a tarpool to cast to slow one of them, while Bael prepared himself to intercept the other golem. They handled these two new ones just fine, but they were perplexed at knowing there were four golems. The fourth was nowhere to be seen. They planned to hunt that one down, but Valtyra noticed that the pond was filled with numerous goldfish. They were told in the book that the mist would transform victims into goldfish and transport them to a pond, so these fish they see here are likely unfortunate victims over the years. Excited at this reminder, however, Philip wanted to know what would happen if they dispelled the magic on one, and see what would happen.

Luckily enough, the fish targeted regained his normal shape, which turned out to be a dwarf. The dwarf surfaced quickly and took a second to get used to his limbs again. After coming to reality with the situation, he quickly thanked the group, and introduced himself as the Guildmaster. Years ago, he lead a thieves guild. They came here after years of research, only to fall prey to the transforming mist. His companions were likely long gone, insinuating that it would not be worth the trouble to try to dispel the magic on other fish in the pond. He agreed to help out the heroes through the Vault, as he’ll find his path after that.

They pressed on, coming across numerous room that were filled to brim of a material. Steel, silk, stone, and others simply filling a room. Our heroes couldn’t really figure out the meaning behind the rooms, so they moved on. After finding another fountain room with a door, they cautiously entered the room beyond the door. As they rounded the corner, Valtyra was quickly targeted with a spell that petrified her before she could react. The mithral mage, Ordikon, was seen floating in the high corner of the room, ready for our heroes. Ordikon quickly retreated to a bookcase across the room to snag a figurine off the shelf. The heroes quickly dispelled the petrification magic off of Valtryra, and slowly worked their way into the room. Ordikon summoned a large arcane cannon, and blasted the casters with a cone of cold. He fell to Naolexa’s sleeping magics, however, and lost his life (and fingers) afterwards.

They proceeded out of this room to find an unexpected guest; a Nalfeshnee demon stood towering over the party. They didn’t attack at first, as the Nalfeshnee didn’t seem too interested in killing them. He explained that they are potentially the only way for him to escape his prison of this room. He shared his story of how he was called and trapped here, and now had no way to complete his contract to actually leave. He has been trapped from years and years, with no hope of escape. The party toiled, and found that might be able to assist the demon in escaping, despite his possibly ill intentions in the Abyss. They released him, and to his delight he was able to escape immediately. They pressed on to the remaining hallway before him, where they found the final golem. After taking it out, they found the room it was guarding; a magical arcane pool. Not sure what to exactly to do, the heroes tried dipping an item into the water. It backfired, and ended up damaging Naolexa. They didn’t want to risk damage further, to they ended up not fiddling any further with the pool. They decided to rest in the vault to restore themselves completely before moving on to the Ravenous Crypts.

Reiner kicked in the doors, and found himself in an unexpected room. It was indeed a throne room, but it was filled with vats; 1 large and 4 smaller ones. All of these filled with gross looking liquids. Before them, a grossly obese man sit in a chair, well apparent of their entrance. He seemed ready for anything, but was taken off guard with Reiner wanted to talk instead of fight. He decided to hear them out.

Reiner stated they knew they were outpowered here, and wanted to know if they could work out a deal. Luckily for them, Jordimandus, the ruler of this wing, was simply too exhausted to actually fight them, so he was open to the idea of talking. The heroes explained their quest to find a weapon to fight Karzoug, and Jordimandus had the perfect answer; the list of components needed to attune a weapon to battle greed. He provided them his list of components needed, and explained the process. He also offered them further power if the heroes agreed to deal with the other wings, as he explained to them their potential threats to the Material Plane.

Greed was an obvious choice. Taking out his subordinates would only help them with their endeavours to take out Karzoug.

Wrath was the next potential threat, as Greed and Wrath warred to the point of the world’s destruction many years ago. With taking out the ruler of the wrath wing, they hampered that threat for years, potentially completely.

Gluttony was controlled by Azaven, a powerful necromancer. The threat he posed is as they dealt with greed and wrath, powerfully necromancers would follow in suit to simply raise those armies again in undead. The world was already battling an undead war currently, so this would hamper that front and aid with that war front.

Pride served only the purpose as the other component needed to complete the ritual to attune their weapon. He was unsure of it’s current status, as he had not heard from that wing in years.

The heroes agreed to deal with these, but was curious why Jordimandus was not seen as a threat to them. He explained that they already hampered years of progress of army raising, so he had a lot of ground to recover anyway. This agreement would also be a mutual agreement to mercy between the two groups. Jordimandus also sweetened the deal by offering a book to the party. This manual would bolster the reader’s strength; permanently. Reiner was eager to read through this, but that would be saved for another day.

They traveled into the Vault of Greed next, where they were greeted by a giant golden door. Wary of this place, they inspected the area for traps, and good that they did. The door was a trap that would splatter those who attempted to touch it against the opposite wall. They found the real door to the side of it after disarming the trap, and moved on. They decided to let Nevik scout ahead, who found himself face to face with a blueish mist that filled the hallway. Knowing this was the mist detailed in the book they found, he put up as much defenses as he could, and walked through it.

He was unaffected completely.

Relieved by this discovery, he moved forward through the mist to scout to the other side, and found a water fountain where a handful of water sprites played in the water. He drank an invisibility potion and approached the group of sprites. He took them off guard at first when he decided to speak while still cloaked, as they instantly put up their guard. He talked them down, and got information out of them about why they are here and what hazards might be around here. The sprites explained that this was their fountain, and no-one would take it away from them. They also talked of a mithral mage who pestered them, and scared them away often.

Nevik was pleased with this information, and asked them to get to safety. They retreated back through the blowhole of the statue in the fountain, as Nevik turned back to assist his allies through the mist. They debated about how to go about it , but managed to simply blow it away and run through it before it came back up again.

They scouted ahead, finding a new room with a giant golem in it. This was likely the golems read about in the book, which stated the golems powered the mist found at the entrance. They decided to sneak up on this golem as best as they could, and take him out as fast as possible. They quickly rushed it, and did manage to kill it quickly. They, however, heard heavy footsteps coming down both directions out of this room. They had to steel themselves for a fight.

Moving to the east, they moved along a walk-way that dropped off eventually. They discovered that this small room they walked into was actually a large pool. Philip managed to spot a body in the murky water, as he transformed into a water elemental to go gather the corpse’s items. He found a bag of holding with numerous books inside of it, which actually detailed mist and golems in the Vault of Greed. Pleased with this information, they moved forward.

After mucking through some water, they made it to an undiscovered room, where a cherenobue awaited them. The spirit of Bael Zargard accompanied them, and was excited at the chance to smite this creature to the earth. It rushed in there, making quick work of the creature with the heroes’ help. They round a corner to the right to find another, and then found themselves at the face of a double door. They feared a powerful foe behind the doors….

The next wing was dirtier than expected, as they slowly approached a sewer system. The ground was slick from moss, and the smell was atrocious. Being in here briefly would not be a problem, but lengthy amount so time spent here could be troublesome to one’s health.

The walls slowly turned to cavern systems, so the direct path forward was unclear. They decided to scout around, eventually finding a room to north. A longer room, they saw 3 levers on the opposite side of the room. Naolexa and Philip decided to investigate. Curious of their effects, they pulled the middle one labeled portal control. It took some force, due to some moss covering it and it probably not been moved in quite some time. Naolexa managed to pull it off, however, shoving the level downward. The room shook, but they noticed quickly that the water level in this room lowered. However, they also caught the attention of two omox demons hiding in the water, who instantly attacked. The heroes took swings left and right at them, but they both managed to escape before the killing blows could be delivered.

The group moved down this hall, only to be greeted by a booming voice:
Stop! These are the Abjurant Halls of Eager Striving. Know that your powers will be crushed and you shall die! You are not worthy!

This, of course, did not deter our heroes, as they pushed on. They approached a room that showed to have a rod sticking out of the ground in the center of it. It crackled with energy, but something did not seem right with it. Nevik approached the rod to find out that this was broken in a way that it actually functioned like a magical trap. He swiftly disarmed it, clearing this room for his party.

The proceeded to the south only to discover a large ooze creature before them. This creature already posed an issue to the party, since Nevik would not be able to pierce his vitals, as it had none. They retreated back into the other room they just cleared for some more space, as they hoped the ooze would follow. It did, but not before it split itself into two. They dealt with the two oozes briskly, and turned their attention to the north.

The northern room had no threats, but did have a pool of what seemed to be quicksilver. It was magical, but the exact properties were unknown. The group grab 3 bottles of the fluid, unsure of it’s purpose just yet. Exhausted from the previous activities, Naolexa summoned up a cottage and they safely rested in the Halls of Envy for the time being.

They entered into a dark hallway, with no portal behind them. The only way being forward, they approached a large circular room, with a fountain in the center and surrounded by statues. Each one depicting a different person. With 7 different ways they could go, they decided to start to their right and move around the circle one by one.

After a long hallway, they entered the Iron Cages of Lust, a large square room with a handful of cages in it, all but one empty or with a dead human in it. In the center of the room; a large pavilion of sorts, using what seemed to be silk as drapery. The group spotted in one cage a human still living, yet clinging onto life barely. Flying above them, however, alu-demons flew around, heckling the party. The group split into two, ignoring the hecklers for the time being. As a group of them approached the cage however, then went into a rage and began attacking. Yama and Reiner found their own trouble, as Reiner chased after Yama to attempt to protect him. Those two few confronted by two fire giants, telling them to leave or die. Of course, Yama liked the challenge, and immediately went into a frenzy. Reiner sighed, and picked up his sword to challenge the giants as well.

Meanwhile, they group had to divert the attention of the alu-demons, but noticed they were quickly getting overwhelmed by approaching fire giants from across the room. Naolexa managed to peak the interest of one of the succubus, and managed to force a parley when she mentioned they were here to learn how to take out Karzoug. The alu-demon immediately called off her allies, and led the group to her leader, Delvahine. This powerful succubus was eager to hear of the heroes plan to deal with Karzoug, and was willing to help...at a price.

In exchange for the component needed to perform the ritual needed to bolster a weapon to fight Karzoug with, Delvahine requested that the bard accompany her to her quarters for some person time. Vincent was eager to appease. Caught up in the opportunity, Vincent quickly remembered that succubus drain their victim’s souls via kiss, and he was already caught up in the ruse with little way out. Knowing things weren’t looking the greatest, he decided that if this is how he was going to leave this world, he might as well go out with a bang. After Vincent working his “magic”, he managed to please Delvahine in a way that the succubus hadn’t been in years. Pleased with his, Delvahine decided to show mercy and accept that as sufficient payment.

She returned to the party with the component; a jeweled dildo. This item, gross as it may have been, was the component enchanted with the power of lust. She handed it to them and told the heroes they will learn more later. Turning to Vincent, she decided to also reward him with a powerful sword she had claimed from a victim many many years ago. She didn’t use it, and it was in the hands of a bard previously. Vincent accepted the sword eagerly. It was a good day for Vincent.

She told the heroes to leave this wing, and to not return. She showed mercy this time, but may not on the next intrusion. They swiftly left the wing to move to the next wing; the Abjurant Halls of Envy.

The party waited out the wall of ice to melt, then proceeded to move forward into the cave mouth. The group moved in cautiously, when suddenly the ground began to shake and tremble. From the walls themselves, numerous earth elementals came out of the walls, while undead creatures also rose from the dirt itself. Guardians of the entrance, they meant to stop our heroes.

Our heroes showed them what for, however, as they began to play around with their new found skills. Dov summoned an elder fire elemental to combat the elder earth elemental among the guardian’s ranks, while the rest of the group whittled away at the various creatures. When the final creature fell, they proceeded further into the hall.

They encountered stone statues, which denoted a slight incline. Looking around however, they noticed that there was actually an invisible ledge hugging the wall. The group, not knowing where exactly they were heading, decided to take the ledge to proceed further. A good choice, as they proceeded towards a large gaping hole. Likely what would have happened is the incline would cause them to slip due to frost, and then slide towards this hole, possibly to drop an unknown height. The ledge guided them down the hole, and lead them to a massive room of connecting caves.

The caves seemed to be collapsed, but the important part here was the things in the center. A dragon’s horde, most likely Arkyst’s, lay here The heroes quickly gathered up all of it, shoving it into bag of holding for use there. More importantly, however, was the ring of 7 pillars, and one large pillar. Each of the smaller pillars had a keyhole on it, most likely to match the key found outside the cave. They group worked together to pull all of the keys together, which caused a rift to occur and a portal to open up on the large pillar. Hesitant at first, the group slowly one by one went through the portal.

The party toiled over the Scribbler's riddle, trying to determine it's purpose and the location of the Runeforge. Vincent helped decipher it, and they found out that the Runeforge is located way up north, at Lake Stormunder's northeastern shore. Rimeskull houses 7 different pillar, and if given a spell of the appropriate school, they would provide a key.

After finding the lake on the map, our Heroes set off to Magnimar, to hire a boat and crew to take them to Brinewall. This northern city was not very well visited, and Nevik had some hesitancy to go there. He declared he would never set foot in that town ever again, but despite this off-puttedness, the party sailed from Brinewall. Once they arrived, they stayed the night, enjoying themselves. The next morning, the group traveled to the nearby lake, and flew across it's waters.

They ascended the mountain with little trouble, and arrived at the fabled location: a ring of seven statues. They quickly went to work with the statues, retrieving the keys quickly. Each one, when having the proper spell casted on it, absorbed the spell and began to glow. It would shake the ground, and make a very high pitched trill noise. These would eventually subside, and the key would appear in the statue's mouth.

However, something sinister was at work, as a wall of ice suddenly appeared to block off the entrance to the stairs and also the way they came. A bellowing voice came about "WHO DARES DISTURB THIS ANCIENT SHRINE?" "We seek entrance to the Runeforge." Valtyra responded.
"THEN YOU SHALL DIE".

Arkrhyst reared his ugly face on our Heroes, flying near the mountain, and declaring the hero's death. Despite Vincent and Valtyra's offer to speak with it, He blasted Vincent, Yama, and Naolexa with a frosty breath. Yama courageously darted straight for the dragon to begin his work, but the dragon met him in kind with numerous attacks, nearly killing Yama twice.

Philip, with a bit of luck and quick thinking, polymorphed the dragon into a goose. Naolexa then finished off Arkrhyst with a suffocation spell, causing the bird to plummet to his death 200+ ft below. Naolexa flew after him, after learning that Philip actually needed the scales from him. She retrieved the bird, dispelled the magic, and got the scales from the now dead dragon.

The heroes turned to the stairs, knowing they had to ascend them, and enter the cave above. Would they find this dragon's hoard? Would they find the Runeforge? Both?

Who knew what awaited them?

Nevik did not return back to the party, so naturally the group went in after him after a bit. THey could not find Nevik, but did find the same room that he did. Only this time, Yama led, and he noticed that two sides of the room had massive webs attached to them. Of course, when an adventurer sees webs, they immediately think to burn it, so thus Yama requested Dov or Naolexa chuck a fireball in there to burn those up. Dov obliged, using his staff to fire to launch fire in the room and clearing up the webs quickly. Yama rushed into the room, just fast enough to see the giant spider on the ceiling launch a web bolt at him. Yama was entangled in the center of the room. Naolexa, not fond of spiders in any sense, petrified the creature on the ceiling. The now spider-statue came crashing down from the ceiling, in line to hit Yama. Luckily, he managed to cut himself free, and then dodge out of the wall before the statue hit the ground, shattering.

The group wrote down the fifth stanza, as Yama pushed open the stone door leading north. A dark hallway lined with fog lay beofre him, as he strolled right in. However, before his party could follow him, Yama came rushing right back out, babbling about how his friends were going to sacrifice him to Lamashtu, and he had to get out of here. Dov and Naolexa unsuccessfully tried to stop him, as he bolted back through the tunnels they came from. The party took it as he was just making it up, but just in case tried to deal with the fog in the hallway. After unseccussful attempts with various fire spells, Naolexa casted dispel magic in the area. While it didn’t dispel the fog, it seemed to have dispelled something. She casted a flaming sphere to burn up the fog, and act as a leading beacon through the hallway.

It led them to a door, and as they opened it, they saw only a table with an inkwell and a quill of a peacock’s feather sitting in it. Valtyra approached the table, but was suddenly struck by a spell. It stopped her only for a moment, as she continued on in. She quickly snagged the quill, threw it into her bag, noticed a body on the north wall, and then escaped back out the hallway (in fear of being damaged again). The casters looked at the quill in detailed, and determined it harmless, and actually quite useful to them. Valtyra, however, wanted to look closer at the body found in the room, to see if she could identify the reason for death. She was hit even hard this time, but still fought her way back in. The body had numerous bones broken in several places, along with bits of skin missing here and there. The exact cause of death is uncertain, but it’s likely this was one of the guards, and he was sacrificed to Lamashtu.

They returned to the spider’s room just in time to hear the following ring throughout the shrine:
You come into my domain, you kill my minions, and you take my possessions. The time for talk is over, prepare to die, my sucklings!

Yama, who had managed to flee all the way back to the cathedral area, was ambushed by not only the source of the voice, but also the two remaining hounds, and 2 demons who wielded two bows at the same time, via the use of four arms.

Yama snapped out of it, but only after the hounds closed in on him, and the man known as the “Scribbler” already started summoning additional help. He summon in a hezrou, which reeked of an odor that Yama just couldn’t ignore. He took him out quickly, but the hounds already flanked him, and they succeeded in pulling him to the floor. The Scribbler took the chance to charge in, swinging wildly at Yama. Luckily, Yama had recently enchanted his armor to save him at the last moment, as he received a breath a life spell just as he felt himself go unconcious. This, however, did not fix the problem that he was on the ground. His rogue resiliency saved him once more, but he had no choice but to attack from the ground. With the spontaneity of a monkey, he stabbed wildly at the Scribbler’s legs, forcing him to his knees, to where Yama could deliver the final blow. Just as quickly as the threat presented himself, Yama took it out just as fast.

The party was able to make it to the cathedral just in time to see this occur, and went to work trying to mop up the rest of the group. Dov became the main target for one of the arrow demons, and nearly killed him from all of the shots fired. Yama took the attention of that one, however, after Dov broke off line of sight to heal. Valtyra assisted with the healing, while Dov encased the second arrow demon in ice, sealing his fate with a cold, frozen death. The hounds and demons were taken care of, and the known threat below Sandpoint dealt with.

The group can report their findings to Father Zantus and Sheriff Hemlock, and try to decipher the stanzas while licking their wounds. Where is this Runeforge mentioned? The ancient library spoke of needing the Runeforge to not only attune their weapons to fight Karzoug, but Valtyra needed it to finish her prototype of a hand cannon. Much is in store for our heroes...

The tunnels here had walls adorned in blood, but also bits of flesh. If there was any guess, the unfortunate guards from Sandpoint met their fates here, shredded to pieces by something. The group continued through, as the hallway narrowed. However, as they progressed, they heard growling. Valtyra, who led the pack, was attacked by 6 different hounds, who looked similar to the yeth hounds the party fought back when they were first dealing with Nualia. THese hounds seemed stronger, but they flew over each other to take the advantageous opportunity to gang up on one target. Valtyra fended off most of the attacks, but did get struck and drug to the ground by one of the hounds. Vincent quickly drug him backwards, as Philip conjured up a wall of ice to blockade the small tunnel. This gave the group the chance to back up into the bloody area, giving them more space to fight.

Philip decided to scout the area using his ring of invisibilty and his ability to turn into an earth elemental to burrow into the dirt, pop up in a section of the kennel to see what the status is, and then return. What he discovered quickly before being detected by the hounds noses is that the southern kennel had another stanza written in it. He returned quickly, unable to read it before running into trouble.

They devised to used Shazam, Naolexa’s fox familiar, as bait to lure the hounds back to them, instead of being bottlenecked in the tunnel. It worked, as Philip dismissed the wall, Shazam yipped, and the hounds gave chase. Nevik took some assistance from Vincent as he casted a spell to make him invisible for some time, and attempted to get the sneak on some of the targets. They fought 4 of the dogs, killing them easily, however 2 were unaccounted for as they traveled back into their kennel area. They scoped the area, and found the fourth stanza:
ON FROZEN MOUNTAIN XIN AWAITS, HIS REGAL VOICE THE YAWNING GATES
EYS TURN TWICE IN SIHEDRON--OCCULTED RUNEFORGE WAITS WITHIN.

After writing this down, Nevik proceed forward to scout the small hallway that narrowed to the west. He discovered a small room, the walls covered in writing. Most of the writing overlapped each other now, to the point of illegibility; except for another stanza on the door opposite from him:
AND NOW YOU’VE COME AND JOINED THE FORGE UPON RARE LORE YOU MIND CAN GORGE-
AND WHEN YOU SLOUGH THE MORTAL WAY IN RUNEFORGE LONG YOUR WORK SHALL STAY.

Nevik concentrated on this and read this, after of which he completed, he heard maniacal laughing...

The group prepared themselves to re-enter the shrine once more. They knew what they were up against, so they prepared themselves to deal with the demon. They decided perhaps scouting out the two tunnels was appropriate, as there might be some additional information to be found in this area. They looked closer at the walls, which were covered in writing. All of it was in Thassilionian, but that was no problem for anyone in the party to read. Most of it was nonsense, but a small bit stoof out:
IF MAGIC BRIGHT IS YOUR DESIRE, TO OLD RUNEFORGE MUST YOU RETIRE
FOR ONLY THERE DOES WIZARDS’ ART RECEIVE ITS DUE AND PROPER START.

They thought nothing of it, and decided to scope out the area through the door to the south. It led into an empty hallway, with three doors. They prepared themselves to open each in succession, but only the one Philip ended up opening had any significance. Yet another notable phrase was found:
ON EASTERN SHORES OF STEAMING MIRROR, AT END OF DAY WHEN DUSK IS NEARER,
WHERE SEVEN FACES SILENT WAIT ENCIRCLED GUARDS AT RUNEFORGE GATE.

Seeing a common trend here, they began to record this down on a slip of parchment. They proceed to the hallway to the north, where Yama took the lead in scouting. After a few doors, he found a small pool of water. He couldn’t find anything important about it, but as soon as Philip came into the room, he quickly scooped up some of the water into his mouth. He instantly spit it out, as it was stale water. Puzzled by the action, Philip simply determined it was non-magical, and they met back up with the group.

The only way back to go was through the Cathedral again. The Glabrezu demon was no-where to be seen, so the room lied empty. Another stanza was seen at the altar wall:
EACH STONE THE GRACE OF SEVEN LORDS, ONE PART OF KEY EACH RULER HOARDS;
IF OFFERED SPELLS AND PROPER PRAYER, TAKE SEVEN KEYS AND CLIMB THE STAIR.

Yama made his way to the altar area, when they heard a familiar voice echo through the shrine:
What became of Runelord Karzoug and Runelord Alaznist? Who wields powerful magic today?

Yama, quickly and confidently said “I killed them.” to which the voice laughed. “You wouldn’t stand a chance against their might. That is impossible. Yama fought back with the fact that he took out Mokmurian, Karzoug’s up-and-comer, to which the voice did not respond immediately. After a moment, he responded with:
If that may be true, then you have an old friend to visit. Prove to me the power which you speak of, and perhaps I will tell you how to defeat Karzoug.”

It was at that moment a succubus was summoned to the middle of the arena. The party scoffed, and Yama quickly took care of it with no problems. Vincent attempt to run along the wall to get to the tunnel that broke off from this chamber, when one of the statues came to life to attack. The Glabrezu demon cloaked himself as one of the statues, and burst from the wall, pushing Vincent back a bit. The Glabrezu managed to summon another of himself again, but Yama quickly took care of the second one with ease. A dagger whizzed by Vincent’s head, returning in the same fashion shortly thereafter. Its source was unknown, even as Valtyra approached the area the attack was suspected to come from. The two glabrezu demons stood no chance, and luckily, Philip needed a reagent from these creatures. They collected some of the meat from the claw of the glabrezu, and continued down the tunnels.

Father Zantus summoned the group to the church to discuss a grave matter. Ever since the party discovered the Catacombs beneath Sandpoint months ago, they had positioned guards as the secret tunnel entrance to prevent anything from coming through, and to keep the new workers at the Glassworks at ease. However, they found the numerous guards missing, and blood all over the room. Something attacked, and Father Zantus needed them to look into the matter. They all agreed, and the moment they stepped outside of the church, the earth shook. After the quake ended, there was screaming from the center of town, as a sinkhole appeared, leading into what looked to be the Catacombs of Wrath. The party steeled themselves as they traveled down the sinkhole to see what caused the matter.

The catacombs were as they left them, aside from damage from the landslide. The well that Triggi had drained previously was now completed covered in dirt, unable to be accessed. Various tunnels now were blocked and inaccessible. As they traveled as far back as they could, they noticed something new: a spiral staircase that was previously unusable due to dirt being in the way was now cleared for use. They traveled down it cautiously, as it went down quite a ways. When they reached the bottom, Vincent managed to spot a secret door in the darkness, which led them into an unknown space, filled with fog. As they entered, a voice spoke to them:
What happened to Thassilon? What has replaced it?”

The voice’s was unidentified, but the party answered back that Thassilon is long fallen, and the lands of Varisia stay in it’s wake. They heard no response.

This room split into three different ways, a hallway to the north, double doors to the south, and a cathedral area to the west. The group decided to go west to the cathedral, which opened up into a giant space. The room was adorned with various symbols all attributing to Lamashtu, however there were no pews or altar in sight. Along the walls, the statue of a pregnant woman with a jackal head, snake like tail, talons, and kukri in both hands stood in each alcove.

Who rules the lands above today? Where is the seat of their power?”

The party could not answer this straight, at all of the major cities really minded their own business. They explained this, and again, no response from the voice. However, a quick pink and purple gate plane gate was opened, as a glabrezu demon stepped forth. This massive creature is nothing the party had faced before, and it spent its first moment summoning another of its kind. The party did not fair well against these foes, as both Shalelu and Vincent went unconcious. The party had to retreat in order to save themselves, and they worked together to teleport out of there. They had to bring Vincent back up first, and then get out of the way.

The group retreated back to the sinkhole entrance. It was clear that they were not ready for such a foe, but perhaps with a bit more assistance, they could bring them down. They decided to take the night to rest and recover, spending it on watch duty outside of sinkhole. Only faint howling was heard during the night. THey were not excited to go back down there, but knew that they were Sandpoint’s only hope against something that powerful.

The party took the next two months relaxing, and hanging around Sandpoint and Magnimar. They all took some time to read one of the books that they managed to take with them from the library, hoping to learn something useful for them from it. All of the members completed their research, trained, and either made or bought items during this time.

It was at the end of the second month when they were summoned to the church, which was repaired from the damage from the Sandpoint raid.
