The Worldwound tore reality apart at the dawn of the Age of Lost Omens, murdering the nation of Sarkoris and unleashing a ravenous demonic horde upon the world. Only the quick action of several other nations of knights, barbarians, and heroes stemmed the demon army and contained it within lost Sarkoris, and for the next century, crusade after crusade tried to defeat the demons only to fail time and time again. Their greatest success, the line of magical artifacts known as wardstones that stand sentinel along the Worldwound's border, barely manages to contain the demons. So when one of the wardstones is sabotaged, a city falls and the demons within surge out in a massive assault like none before. Even before the Fifth Crusade has begun a city has fallen and some of the crusaders' greatest defenders and heroes are slain. Can anyone rise up against the demon host to prevent the armies of Deskari, the demon lord of the Locust Host, from swallowing the world?

The Children of the First Crusade
We climbed through a narrow passageway and entered a series of caverns. In one we found a fallen tower with the bodies of several misshapen creatures buried in the rubble. They all appeared partly human, but they were all disfigured in some way. They were obviously intelligent as they wore clothes and armor and carried weapons. We uncovered the bodies and looked for survivors, but there were none.

We continued for some time and encountered a partially toppled tower in another cavern. Two more of the misshapen creatures were attempting to free a third from the debris. I approached and called out to them. We managed the encounter peacefully despite Horgus trying to spew his hatred towards them. We managed to shut him up, and Anevia maintained his civility by means of a naked dagger pressed against his back.

The Children of the First Crusade (as they prefer to be called) we met were named Ran and Diara. Their trapped friend was named Krell. We helped to free Krell. They led us to their main city, a place completely underground beneath Kenebras. We met with their leader, Saul, who agreed to aid us. However, he requested that we flush out an area where demon cultists were holed up.

We fought through their guards at the gate and began our sweep. Kaleb channeled the power of his goddess and burned a swath through the cultists. Later we encountered a tough opponent. A child of the first crusade who fought us with a bow, and then switched to two swords. Ragnar was seriously wounded, but in the end we overcame.

The Fall of Kenebras
Tragedy struck the city on the edge of the Worldwound. The great demon Khorramzadeh destroyed the wardstone protecting the city, and then launched himself to attack Terendelev, the city's silver dragon protector. A great tremor broke the ground open and my brothers and sister and I plummeted into the abyss. Terendelev's final action was to slow our fall, and as we later learned, imbue some of her power into her scales for us to find.

The ground closed over our heads and we were trapped in the darkness. Fortunately none of us were wounded, but the same could not be said for the few others who descended with us. Anevia Tirablade broke her leg, Aravashnial the elven Riftwarden was blinded, and Horgus Gwerm became obnoxious and unlikable.

We explored our immediate environs, killed a spider (which might have been dead already) killed some giant fly maggots, and found several scales from Terendelev. Continuing on we killed some enormous cockroaches, one of which attempted to separate Ragnar from his lower leg. We found a backpack with some supplies and made it to a desecrated temple of Torag.

There we dispatched a giant fly before entering and discovering a huecuva -- an undead former cleric of Torag. As the rest of us positioned ourselves, Kaleb lept upon the alter and called upon the power of Sarenrae to burn the abomination with holy fire. He was remarkably successful leaving only ashes behind.

Kaleb then went on to consecrate the temple to Sarenrae, and none of us were willing to gainsay him. Sarenrae showed us her favor bu blessing all those inside. We spent a peaceful night within the walls of the temple.

The next day after much traveling we found a chamber with carved likenesses of the first crusaders. Rumors say that they and their descendants were disfigured by the Worldwound and live their lives underneath Kenabras in the tunnels.

Upon leaving the chamber, we were set upon by squid-like creatures that dropped from above. One fell upon Kaleb covering his head, but Marilis quickly dispatched it. The second tried to do the same, but it missed and we killed it as well. Meanwhile we were attacked by a mad dwarf who assaulted us with magics and alchemy. He was quite beyond reason and we cut him down as well.

My siblings were magnificent in their abilities. I have never before had a chance to witness them fighting in earnest, but truly they are mighty warriors. I wonder if I will even be able to contribute as we try to regain the surface. At least I will do my best to inspire, support and guide them as we go.
