6/16/2013 - Glass and Wrath
Naugrim and Kalin took watch at the front of the Glassworks while Kael and Snib explored the beach, looking for the hidden entrance that Lonjiku had mentioned at the Garrison. Kael and Snib eventually found what they were looking for - a cave in the cliff face about 20 feet off the ground, marked by a rolled up rope ladder. Kael went back to fetch the rest of the group while Snib stayed behind to watch the cave opening. Shortly after Kael left a gnawed bone with a few chunks of meat flew out of the opening - clearly something was having a meal inside.

Kael assembled the rest of the group and set up a rope descend into the cave from above. Inside they found a few goblins huddled around a small campfire. Judging by the surroundings, these goblins had been living here for a while. The goblins were taken by surprise but fought with anything they could get their hands on, including glass bottles from the factory above, but they were no match for the adventurers. One goblin was able to escape into the darkness, but the rest were brought down swiftly.

The group tracked the remaining goblin and found a door leading to a long tunnel. One side of the tunnel led North, into darkness, while the other led South. Kael was able to track the goblin's prints and led the group South, where the tunnel eventually opened up into a storage room.

The group could hear the goblin talking to someone in the next room over, and moved in to see Tsuto standing behind a desk waiting for them. Tsuto had no interest in negotiations and a quick battle followed. Tsuto's martial arts prowess helped him put up a fight, but he was eventually knocked unconscious while trying to escape. The group found many items on his body, most notably a journal filled with various notes and maps detailing attacks on Sandpoint. The attempts to interrogate Tsuto proved to be unsuccessful, deteriorating to the point where Tsuto was beating his head against the concrete in an attempt to end his own life. At this point the adventurers elected to knock Tsuto unconscious and bring him to Sandpoint Garrison for safekeeping.

Once it was clear that Tsuto would not provide any clues to help locate Ameiko the adventurers decided to investigate the rest of the building in hopes of finding her. Luckily, they were able to find her in an adjacent room. Ameiko was bound, gagged, and unconscious, but thankfully she was still alive. In the interests of time the adventurers elected to bring the two unconscious Kaijitsu siblings with them while the investigated the rest of the building.

After leaving the basement Kalin brought Tsuto and Ameiko to some members of the town guard and asked them to take the bodies to the Garrison and Cathedral, respectively. The group decided to investigate the sounds of glass breaking coming from within the Glassworks and found one last group of goblins causing some trouble in the furnace room. It seemed that these goblins had killed the Glassworks workers and were feeding their bodies into the furnace. These goblins clearly didn't know that their leader had been defeated, as they attempted to run into the basement for help. The adventurers were able to quickly defeat this last pack, finally ridding the Glassworks of this goblin threat.

Second Letter to Mom
Dear Mother,
Well, I was wrong about Sandpoint being a sleepy little village! I've met some new friends here, including humans and a dwarf. We were at a festival here, with contests, music, theater, and drinking (don't worry Mother, no liquor touched these lips).

Suddenly, some goblins attacked! They were trying to burn down the town! My new friends and I jumped into the fray. I decided to fight fire with fire, and used the bombs Uncle Hackett taught me to make. Unfortunately, I was nearly as much hindrance as help. I burned some goblins, but burned myself nearly as much. (But not to worry, Mother, as my new friends and a local cleric took care of that.) But Naugrim, my dwarf friend, had much better results against the green buggers! He cut them down left and right (I would say "cut them down to size" but I am a bit sensitive about my stature with all these talk folk). We even capture a couple of the creatures and took them to the local garrison for questioning. Kalin, another of my new friends, found out they were working with a human! Can you imagine that? I guess it is true they come in all shapes and sizes, so to speak.

Later, a local innkeeper named Ameiko gave us free room and board. We wound down the night with some food and drink (don't worry Mother, the dwarf drank enough for all of us). I retired to prepare more bombs and other mixtures, when the sheriff came and asked us to investigate some goings-on at the town cemetery. So off we went, and Kael (the last but not least of our group), saw something strange and went into a crypt. There he was attacked by walking skeletons! Well, I preformed much better this time! Those pile of bones did not stand a chance against my fire! And I came out unscathed (I did scorch my friends a bit...but they swear it is alright by them....I hope they mean it).

So we went back for some much needed rest. But when we awoke, we were told our hostess is missing. So I must keep this short as we are heading out to find her shortly.

Your loving son,
Snib

Epic!
6/2/2013 - Local Heroes
As Sandpoint recovers from the attack and buries its (thankfully few) dead, the citizens do their best to get on with their lives. The cathedral is consecrated the next day during a much more subdued and indoor ceremony, but many questions relating to the goblin attack remain.

After imprisoning the two surviving goblins at Sandpoint Garrison the group began their interrogation. Kalin's calm demeanor put the goblin's at ease and he was able to determine that they were led by someone much larger - likely a human. Unfortunately they could not remember this creature's name. The goblins also mentioned that they came from a place called Thistletop.

The adventurers were greeted by Ameiko Kaijitsu as they left the garrison. She offered her sincere thanks and encouraged everyone to stay at the Rusty Dragon free of charge. Seeing as they were already planning on meeting Aldern Foxglove there, the group graciously accepted the offer. Aldern stood out like a sore thumb at the inn, moving from group to group but never quite fitting in. He was ecstatic to see the adventurers, particularly Naugrim. After some light banter Aldern invited the adventurers to join him on a boar hunt the following morning and provided them with 50 gold pieces to again say thank you for saving his life.

Later in the afternoon Belor Helmock, the town's sheriff, entered the inn. After a few moments at the bar he mentioned some disturbing events that had recently taken place in the town cemetery. Apparently Father Zantus found the stone door to the previous priest's burial chamber had been broken open and asked sheriff Hemlock to investigate. The group agreed to help Hemlock and headed to the cemetery.

As they walked up to the cemetery gates Kael immediately noticed the tracks of about 6 goblins and one larger humanoid leading to and from the burial chamber. He moved closer and was beset by two reanimated skeletons that had been waiting inside. The skeletons' claws tore at the adventurers, but ultimately they were no match for Snib's explosive bombs. Once the area was clear the group investigated further and found that the remains of Ezakien Tobyn had been removed from the tomb. Kael tracked the goblins out past the entrance to the town, but the group decided to head back to the Rusty Dragon for the night.

No sooner had the adventurers returned to the inn than a boisterous old man stormed through the door asking for his daughter. As the group intervened he derided them for putting the town in further danger as they defended the town from attack. Things escalated further, but Ameiko intervened before any fighting could break out. After some more discussion it was clear that this man was Lonjiku Kaijitsu, Ameiko's father. Lonjiku was intent on taking Ameiko away from Sandpoint, as he was convinced that there was further danger on the horizon. The group restrained him and sent for the Sheriff, who took him back to the garrison for further questioning.

In the morning the group met up with Sheriff Hemlock, who was accompanied by an elf named Shalelu Andosana. Shalelu stopped by Sandpoint ahead of schedule because she was worried about the recent outburst of goblin activity in the area. It seemed that the goblin tribes in the area were joining forces, and the attack on Sandpoint might be related. After some discussion it was decided that Sheriff Hemlock would head to Magnimar to request additional soldiers, Shalelu would investigate the tracks that Kael found the previous night, and the adventurers would stay in town to supplement the town guard.

Bethana Corwin, one of the women who works for Ameiko, approached the group while they were discussing their plans with the Sheriff. It would seem that Ameiko disappeared overnight, and the only clue was a letter from her brother, Tsuto. After further questioning of Lonjiku at the garrison, the group headed to the glassworks to search for Ameiko and Tsuto.

5/19/13 - Festival and Fire
For five years, the faithful of Sandpoint have attended church in temporary structures erected after fire destroyed the previous temple, and while their new religious leader was helpful, kind, and wise, church wasn't the same. Now, the new cathedral is finally done. All that remains is for the Swallowtail Festival to renew the site's blessings from the Gods and it will be as if the Sandpoint fire had never occurred.

The town of Sandpoint could not have asked for better weather on the morning of the Swallowtail festival. Locals and travelers filled the square in front of the new church as four keynote speakers each delivered short but well-received welcomes to the festival. Mayor Deverin welcomed the visitors to the town, while Sheriff Belor Hemlock requested that everyone be safe around the evening's bonfire. The next speaker, Lonjiku Kaijitsu, was noticeably absent when his turn came to speak (not a surprise to those that know Lonjiku), but Cydrak Drokkus was quick to step in and reclaim the attention of the crowd. Finally, Father Zantus stepped up to give a short speech thanking everyone for coming before declaring the Swallowtail Festival underway.

The morning of the festival saw the streets filled with games and contests. A strange-looking visitor named Kalin was quick to step in and challenge a local to a dart contest, and his victory gave him bragging rights for the rest of the morning. Lunch was provided for free by Sandpoints two notable taverns - The Rusty Dragon and the Hagfish. Ameiko Kaijitsu's curry-spiced salmon and early winterdrop mead (of which Naugrim took more than his fair share) was the talk of the festival. The party continued through the afternoon and into dusk.

As the sun began to set Father Zantus took the central podium, using a thunderstone to attract the crowd's attention. He cleared his throat to begin the Prayer of First Dreaming, but he was interrupted when a woman's scream sliced through the air. A few moments later another scream rose, then another. The screams were followed by a chorus of high-pitched, tittering shrieks that sounded not quite human. The more perceptive members of the crowd saw groups of goblins beginning to pour through the crowd, lighting fires and slicing at anything within reach. The goblins' sick, twisted chants began to echo through the town square, causing further chaos and confusion.

Four brave souls were thrust into action when they saw a group of goblins cornering a helpless dog. These adventurers made quick work of the initial goblin pack, then dealt with another group that was spreading fire throughout the Southern portion of the town square. After just a moment's rest the group heard cries for help coming from the northern end of the square and were able to save a defenseless nobleman from a goblin commando in the nick of time. All the while, Kalin was able to keep the goblins' fires under control with his divine magic.

The group's heroics seemed to be enough to deter the goblins, as the few remaining stragglers fled through the town's northern gate. The man that had been rescued introduced himself as Aldern Foxglove, and offered his immense thanks for saving his life. Aldern was staying at the Rusty Dragon, and invited the group to meet him there for dinner so he could get to know them better and properly reward them for saving his life.

In the aftermath of the battle the group resuscitated two of the goblins and brought them to Sandpoint Garrison for further questioning.
