A Piece of Cake
Flossin was sure that the upcoming job would be easy. Gerry seemed to think things would turn out all right. While he didn't find a turtle, he was sure that Foosten would be at the party. Flossin and the rest would grab him before he could cause trouble, and voila they would be the heroes of the city. Piece of cake. Of course, it never occurred to Flossin that Foosten might not show up to this shindig. So when the trouble started, he did the best he could with what he had. I guess it turned out ok in the end. Even if the house didn't get set on fire, or he didn't get to ride a war turtle through the garden. Better luck next time.

The bones don't lie.
When the Gygax has it out for you, doesn't matter what you do, you are going to have to deal with it. Thankfully, Jerry gave me the heads up so I was on my guard the whole time we were heading out with these peat cutters. The salt spiders were an appetizer; I knew something wasn't right. So when I started snooping around, it was just my luck to find Tarasz note, confirming this was a set up. The Great Gygax dragged us out into the middle of the swamps to kill us. Well, Flossin isn't going down without a fight. I decided I would hide nearby and spy on this group. When the time came, sure enough, they were going to kill us. But, Jerry must have had luck on his side, because the butt of my spear struck true and Tarasz was out like a light. That stopped this fight in its tracks. Tarasz made it sound like it was us acting funny that set him off to kill us, but I know the truth. He was simply a pawn for the Great Gygax. He was going to try to kill us all along. Well not today!

The long walk across town
Tyla's stomach felt as though it were filled with snakes. That simple night of meeting with Ricky had quickly spun out of control and now he'd somehow found his way not only back to the Thieves Guild, but in their covert employ.

Cheeks reddening at that simple thought, his pace slowed. Surely his new compatriots across town were still preparing the specifics of their heist, but the less Tyla knew, the better. "Plausible deniability" was his watchword, and a bombastic and generous his appearance at the Hairy Cod would hopefully put some distance between him and the goings-on at the Church of the Eye. If these brothers-in-arms were somewhat still in the dark on their contractor, that was all for the good.

Pausing at the next corner, he surreptitiously checked his coin purse, hoping he had enough goodwill to stretch these rilks into several rounds. Perhaps a gratis performance could balance the scales with Sir Harry...

A quick, silent prayer to the Bakkus, god of mirth and wine, and one to the Lord of Chance for good measure, and he set off again.

Nearing the door to the Cod, Tyla noticed some familiar faces in the square. A smattering of dock workers and some merchant-shippers from the eight cities. Certainly, these talkative sailors could be counted on for boisterous song and matching his generosity. With any luck, the Beggars Guild would have some members nearby, further solidifying Tyla's alibi.

Affixing his most genial smile, Tyla burst through the door. "An ale to the sailor with the most preposterous tale of sea monsters!"
