LocationsChampion Pizza
The Champion Pizza Parlor is owned and operated by the Cotroni family. Their bloodline has created more than few sensitives and, for a while, they were effectively the Italian Mob's supernatural wing assigned to the Alliance Against the Angels. The family suffered heavy casualties, and have effectively been disbanded. Their pure mortal cousins are still going strong, having stayed a little further back from the front lines of the war.
There is still quite a bit of fire left in this family, but those with the strongest ties and allegiance to the Mob have been lost. The remaining members have varying opinions on whether they should try to rebuild their position in the Mob, or move away from that old life.
The other families were not alike in their acceptance of the sensitive members of he Cotroni family. Some were amazed, and saw potential in using their abilities. Others saw them as a threat, and never fully trusted them. But both viewed them as perfect for the war against the Hell's Angels, though for very different reasons. Their prior treatment plays heavily into why the Cotroni's are hesitant to work with their cousins again. The next generation has some decisions to make.

Gaston's Garage (Gaston's)Gaston's Garage is a motorcycle repair shop.
For those that know Gaston, they would never tell you that he was a sometimes ally to the supernaturals banding against the Hell's Angels. He was able to procure some unusual or illegal items for these concerned occupants of Montreal. Some these itmes may still be lying around or tucked away in corners, where a police search and seizure won't find it. There were a few intense years of the Biker Gang wars that had all sort of supplies flowing through the garage. It was hard to keep track. The question today is, does Gaston still know what he's got? Afterall, he's a mechanic, not a merchant...
The Face of Gaston's Garage is: (Jonathan's PC, who may have an Iroquois background.)Mount Royal Cemetery
Mount Royal Cemetery is the largest in North America, and 160 years old. All the normal beauty and creepiness expected of an old cemetery abounds here. If you are sensitive to such things, ghosts are spirits abound.
For those in the know, Black Court vampires can use cemeteries to cross between the mortal world and the never-never. They have also been known to hide out in crypts as a place of rest during the day.
The face of this location is a very old ghost of an Algonquin Native American Warrior named "Askuwheteau" (ask oo WEE tu).
Saint Joseph's Oratory (St. Joseph) (St. Joe)St. Joseph's Oratory is a large Roman Catholic church - a basiilica to be more precise. It's a main feature of a pilgrimage route, and reported healing miracles have been performed here. Brother Andre was the first be a part of these miracles, and later was sainted. The miracles continue, mysteriously, to this day. All those who claimed to have experience one visited the church and prayed. And, it is suspected that all had seen Mons. Tom while there were there. Some claimed to have had a long conversation with him, while others saw him in prayer nearby, or simply pass him in the hall. Mons. Tom claims no responsibility for the reported miracles.
The basilica is dedicated to Saint Joseph, to whom Brother André credited all his reported miracles. These were mostly related to some kind of healing power, and many pilgrims (handicapped, blind, ill, etc.) poured into his Basilica, including numerous Protestants. On display in the basilica is a wall covered with thousands of crutches from those who came to the basilica and were allegedly healed. Pope John Paul II deemed the miracles to be authentic and beatified Brother André in 1982. In October 2010 Pope Benedict XVI canonized the saint.
A reliquary in the church museum contains Brother André's heart, which he requested as a protection for the basilica. More than 2 million visitors and pilgrims visit the Oratory every year.
St. Joseph, was originally a small chapel on the slopes of Mont Royal near Notre Dame College. Soon the growing number of the congregation made it too small. In 1917 a larger church was completed that had a seating capacity of 1,000. In 1924, the construction of the basilica of Saint Joseph's Oratory was commenced; it was finally completed in 1967. Father Paul Bellot, an architect, completed the dome of Saint Joseph's Oratory between 1937-39. The dome is the third-largest of its kind in the world.

(inside the crypt)Saint Laurent Boulevard (Main) (St Laurent)Saint Laurent Boulevard became a boulevard in 1905 and is often referred to as The Main. It serves as the city's physical division of east and west. Street numbers begin at Saint Lawrence and continue outward, with street names being suffixed by Ouest (West) or Est (East), depending on their orientation.
The street is built over a Ley Line, and through generations of settlers and immigrants, it has become a metaphysical dividing line for "us" and "them". This threshold between two mortal worlds has somehow transformed into a nexus for crossing from the never-never as well.
For mortals, the boulevard traditionally divides Montreal by language, ethnicity, and class. Saint Laurent Boulevard was for generations the symbolic dividing line for the city, with the predominantly English-speaking population to the west, French-speaking population to the east, and immigrant communities in between along the Main and Park Avenue. The Main runs through many of Montreal's ethnic communities, a first stop for immigrant communities for over 100 years — initially Jewish, Chinese and Italian, and later Portuguese, Greek, Arab, Haitian and others.
Crossing of the Ley Line is guarded by the Gruff.
If you view the city as your home, you need the Gruff's permission to cross to the other side of the city. If you do not get permission and cross anyway, it has the same effect as crossing a threshold of a home without an invitation. If you get permission, you may may use knowledge of this threshold, and the idiosyncrasies of local magical energies, to your advantage.
Supernatural creatures who consider Montreal their home also live by these rules.
Visitors are not affected one way or another by the Saint Laurent threshold, and do not need permission to cross, but cannot use it's aspect for an advantage. Locals can tap this aspect to create a disadvantage on visitors, if applicable to the situation.
There is an exception to this rule. There are 3 points of "public" crossing for the locals. Consider them are portals of "open invitation". If you cross at these points, then you are not considered 'uninvited':
1) The Entrance Gate in China town
2) at the corner of Avenue du Mont-Royal, at the southern border of the Mile End neighborhood.
Corner of Saint Laurent Blvd and Avenue du Mont-Royal.
Mile End was also the first important crossroads north of the tollgate located at the city limits of 1792. From the crossroads to the city limits the distance was 0.4 miles (0.64 km). The city limits were located 100 chains (1.25 miles or about 2 km) north of the fortification wall, and intersected Saint Lawrence just south of the current Duluth Avenue.
As early as 1815, there was a Mile End Hotel and tavern, frequented by notables such as Stanley Bagg, an English businessman and landowner
3) Via the Trans Canadian Highway (Autoroute Metropolitaine), or walking underneath the freeway's overpass.
The southern section of the boulevard in downtown Montreal and the Plateau is lined with trendy shops and restaurants, and is the site of many street-fairs and festivals. What were once run-down factories have been turned into expensive lofts. Saint Laurent Boulevard is representative of Montreal's shift out of the economic decline in the 1980s and 90s.
Many supernatural creatures have found businesses or locations along the Main that have an affinity with their nature. It's so easy to cross at these points, that the street are amazingly filled with Fae and other creatures. As mortals change the definition of these spaces, it changes the crossing points to the never never. Some creatures get quite annoyed when a storefront is repurposed.
Entrance to Montreal's Chinatown, St. Lawrence at René Lévesque Boulevard.
St. George Du Lac, Inc. (St George)St. George Du Lac, Inc.
Improving the world for humanity.
The headquarters for St. George Du Lac, Inc. is located in the World Trade center, in Montreal. They take up 3 floors.
St. George straddles two main industries: Genetics and technology. Their origins is in medical research, and have one of the widely regarded research teams on human genetics and applied therapies. Growing out of their own technology needs, they have recently developed a subsidiary corporation called Du Lac Industries. They focus on computer manufacturing, specializing in servers, IT security systems and personal security software.
The face of St. George Du Lac is George Weyland.
He is also the face for the City Threat "Somebody knows you have a secret". The company is suspected of capturing, testing with, and killing supernatural creatures, including humans with supernatural talents.
The Magical BlendThis "'nother world" store for hippies and new agers has an edge of authenticity, if you look past the display stands. This magic shop has today's popular spirituality books, and magical supplies like crystals, incense, apothecary looking dried bits, for sale.
Browsing and reading is encouraged with tea and snacks available at the register, by the door. There are several fluffy chairs and a few bistro sets in the back. In the summer there's even sidewalk seating (no merchandise outside please.)
Upstairs there are workshop rooms for meditation training, reiki practitioners, and readers of all kinds. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, there's a regular yoga practice. Sometimes when the store is having a sale, they'll invite a couple of masseuses to set up for 15 minute neck massages. The workshop space is available for rent and the shop promotes classes and events to it's customers. All in all, it's a usually a good place for a gig.
There is a sealed and locked display shelf of rare books behind the counter. A list, with a vague book description, is hanging off the front counter. Only serious inquiries will get the books brought down, and only with gloves. You cannot touch the books with bare hands unless you buy them. Many of these books are not in English or French, and they are of vary widely in age. This tiny "rare occult" library is a bit of a site seeing attraction for the store.
For our campaign, it's thought this can be a good contact point for the local paranet, research, and supplies.
The Face of the Magical Blend is: (undecided. Jesse's character maybe?)
The NoteThe Note is a Jazz Club with live music, as well as a cafe. For the supernatural community, it's accorded neutral territory. It's located in the International Quarter of the city.
The Note has two floors - the first floor is a cafe, complete with sidewalk bistro tables on the street. It's open near 24 hours for espresso in the morning, or late night munchies after the bars have closed.
Live music wafts up in the evening from the basement, where there is a club with a stage, dance floor and full bar.
Neutral territory only exists inside the building. Anyone dining on the sidewalk is usually assumed to be a tourist or a resident who is not clued in.
The furnishings for the cafe are a colorful jumble of mismatched furniture, with an almost latin feel. Though the menu, and napkins and rugs are decidedly European. There are 13 tables of varying sizes, and two large fireplaces on either side of the main L-shaped room. The Kitchen is in the rear of the first floor. Woodfired pizza is their signature dish with the oven clearly visible to the dining room.
There are stairs to the downstairs at the L, and the kitchen's staff door is across the hall, to easily serve food to patrons in the club. There is no sign advertising the club below, and the stairs down are not well lit. In fact, to the casual observer, they are not all that welcoming. The only clue that there is more to the business is the music, which some may mistake for a radio playing, until they hear the applause.
There is an outside stair well for patrons that want to go directly to the club level, rather than parade through the restaurant. Again, it's not well lit, and sensible passers by wouldn't even consider it a business entrance. The restaurant on top steals the show, as it were.
Both the front door and the club door below have very big, very loud bells on them. They ring when ever anyone enters or exists. It's amazing how loud they are, somehow clearly heard over the jazz music. Regulars generally try to wait outside the club door, until the musicians are between songs, before entering. Busting in during the middle of a song, will get you the stink-eye. Since Jazz is know for it's long, improvised songs, lot's of people end up getting glares. It's cold out in the winter!
The entire business is cash-only.
The second story of the building is Jeanette Dupree's home, owner of the Note. It's amazing that that woman gets any sleep. The Violet Hour (Violet) (Violet Hour)The Violet Hour is a goth themed night club in the RESO (Montreal's underground city). The designers were clearly trying to create a space that can double as set dressing for a noir horror film. The atmosphere is hazy from all the fog machines running. The music is loud, and the lights are very dim. There is a maze of dark curtains beside the dance floor, and black upholstery everywhere. The club smells strongly of clove cigarettes, incense, and beer. The dark is punctuated like a punch in the face with flashing dance floor lights, aimed at eye level, and laser-light shows play off the eternal fog. Even though you cannot see it, you get the sense this place is very dirty. Your feet stick to the floor slightly.
The bathrooms are somewhere behind that maze of curtains, if you can find them. Don't go into the bathrooms. just don't.
Since it's perpetually night here, the Violet Hour is open at all times legal for drinking. The clientele are usually dressed in outlandish yet emo black outfits, and are mostly students, wanna be musicians and poets, counter culture enthusiasts, and drop outs of all kinds. Tattoos and piercings abound. ID's are checked spottily, and there are drugs so readily available you can almost order them with your drinks. How this place remains in business is a mystery.
The Violet Hour is located in a section of RESO tunnel that has been perpetually under construction for years. Permits problem, funding problems, and construction problems had plagued this expansion, and the business next door change like the seasons. Violet Hour generates decent foot traffic, but they are only interested in one storefront past this last turn, at the end of the walkway. Past the club and construction barriers and keep out signs.
There have been rumors that the Black Court have taking a liking to this club, but so far, no one in the know has seen one. Maybe it's just speculation that this would make a juicy hunting ground...
The face of the Violet Hour is unknown, but the owner is Gerard Rogers. He likes to go by Mr. Rogers for the irony of it. He's a very busy man, clearly more of a business owner than a goth himself. He tries to wear black when he's at the club, but it looks out of place. Probably because he's too tan. -
GroupsAlliance Against the Angels (AAA) (Alliance)Alliance of families and street gangs against the Hell's Angels attempts to control the Montreal Drug Trade.Known Members:
Rizzuto family - Italian Mob family
Bloods - street gang
Crips - street gang
...others...
Hell's Angels (Angels) (HA)The Hell's Angels are a biker gang. Those in the know have realized that they are Lycanthropes, but as to what that means is wildly speculated. A few years ago, the "Angels" made aggressive moves to take over the entire drug trade of the city. The Mob and local street gangs banded together to oppose their efforts.
The Angels seem to be the most vicious around the full moon. Some, but not all of their enemies are in the know. Those that are, found that getting dragged into confrontation near the full moon has been costly. Some go on an effective full defense during that time, letting allies who are not as well informed, play bait while they wait it out.
The war has been going on for a few years, and included terrorist style car bombings and other large attacks. The civilian death toll has been tragic, and the public outcry was deafening. Any politician wanting to be reelected needed be seen making progress toward a resolution of the street war. To that end, the Angel's got a spanking recently by the police, who ran coordinated international raids and arrested many of the gangs "persons of interest".
Street violence showed a sharp decline since the major bust. The Angels have a solid foothold in the city, however, and do not show signs of leaving the city despite this setback. There are rumors that the some Mob leaders are secretly in negotiation with the Angels, though the official stance of the unofficial "coalition against the Angels" is to kick them while they are down.White CourtThings commonly known about White Court Vampires:
White Court vampires look like humans, but their blood is pink rather than red. They are strong, fast, and can incite the emotion they feed on. They can kill by feeding.
White court vampires inherit there abilities from a parent. There are strong family ties and family politics in this group. You may even consider them a bit like the mob. A very sophisticated mob.
They prefer to operate via "cats-paws" (pawns), and it's a prized skill to remain far from "the action", but still control it.
The family currently in charge of the White Court feed on lust (succubus and incubus), and are known to own and operate skin trade businesses as well as night clubs. They can cross over to the never-never at these types of places.
Their cousins, feeding on despair and fear, are less flashy, but no less dangerous. They would have infiltrated organization that could be used to prey on mortals particularly vulnerable to their type of feeding.
Children of the White Court will be faced with a choice in their life, much like changelings are. If they give into their vampire nature, and feed unto the death of their victim, they will become a White Court vampire. However, if they experience their family's opposing emotion, such as true love, true hope or true courage, they will effectively banish their White Court side, and remain mortal. Those that do not wish to be White Court must hold off the hunger long enough to find this epiphany.
Protection against a White Court vampire would be to experience true love, true hope, or true courage. They cannot feed those that possess their anathema - it causes them pain at contact, and can kill them if they try anyway. Sometimes objects can be imbued with these emotions, and a few rare items possess them for years after the mortals death. For example, a old wedding right might have a strong charge of true love left in it.
