Allu is the name of a so-called "god" served by the
hobgoblins Gnish and
Barlock. Those two
hobgoblins told the
hobgoblin slaves of
Keltar that Allu had sent them to deliver them out of slavery and lead them to his "holy palace" to serve him there.
In actuality, Allu seems to be an
efreeti. His exact origin is unknown, but he first encountered
hobgoblins on an island where a group of
hobgoblin pirates had shipwrecked. He convinced a portion of these pirates to worship and serve him, and they repaired their ship and sailed with him to
Faerûn.
The illusionist
Malick, who was a stowaway aboard their vessel, stole an
Omlar gem that Allu bore, before escaping off the ship. Allu was able to track
Malick and sent one of his
hobgoblin servants to retrieve the gem. This was the same
hobgoblin that Leokas had been pursuing and that
Vashti slew.
While the
brass dragon Sseth was there to defend them, the adventurers summoned Allu with one of his magical bottles, which he gave to some of his
hobgoblin servants. Before he could harm anyone,
Sseth put him to sleep with a
cloud of gas, but the fire
genie vanished before they could bind him or question him.
While
Sseth searched the southwestern portion of the
Calim Desert for Allu's hidden lair, the adventurers explored the
Altar of the Air, where Allu had last sent some of his
hobgoblin servants. While there, the party encountered
El Sadhara, and
Vashti used another magic bottle to summon Allu there. Allu was last seen in an epic battle with
El Sadhara as the adventurers fled the scene.
The adventurers have had no direct contact with him since then. However, his
hobgoblins slew
Malick shortly after the visit to
Darromar.
Sseth claims to have found the
efreeti's palace, but the adventurers have yet to visit it.
