A tall, gaunt young man. Bright, searching gray eyes peer from deep-sunken sockets beneath severe black brows. He keeps his coarse black hair pulled back from his face and his beard stubble short. He dresses in short woolen robes of earthy brown with bands of deep green trim embroidered with ivy vines and oak leaves at the shoulders, collar, cuffs, and hem. A thin darkwood wand and a dagger are tucked into a broad brown leather belt about his waist, festooned with small pouches. His feet are shod in tall brown leather boots laced almost up to the knee, over loose deerskin breeches. Atop his head is a jeweled coronet, befitting his status as a lord of the realm. He leans on a knotted shillelagh.

Ganelin Farseer was born Lautari Niktovich Ganelin to Nadezdha Ganelina, a common Brevic woman in service to the Medvyed. He never knew who his father was. At an early age, he proved to be bright, precocious, and curious. After he was caught peeking in spellbooks, the Medvyed’s house wizard, Vasili Ovcharenko, took him as apprentice. At the culmination of his apprenticeship, he served a tour with the house guards; his knowledge, analytical ability, magic, and preternatural sense for danger have already saved lives and secured victory in several skirmishes.
