Born to the human noble Filofei Medyed and the elf Lorissa, Issa was raised in a typical rich, noble household until her father died in combat when she was still a young child. She became sullen and, when she reached adolescence, ran away for ten years. When she returned, she remembered little of what had happened to her. She knows she lived with the fey but does not remember details of the individuals she met or what they did. During her time with the fey, her eyes changed color from the blue eyes of Filofei to a deep purple. Issa reunited with her mother in Brevoy and repented for selfishly worrying her family by running away. Issa began regularly attending services at the local temple of Erastil and learning and practicing the faith with enthusiasm if not with great intellectual engagement. She began to train with her mother as a fighter and was pleased to join the mission to found a new kingdom, a mission she sees as an opportunity to form the ideal community according to the faith of Erastil.
