User: Brian
Race: Half-Elf (Human/High Elf)
Gender: Male
Class/Level: Fighter/Thief/4/5
Description:
Xavier is of slim build, and because of his heritage he looks more like a teenage boy at first glance than an adult of 22 years. He has the compact, well-toned body of a dancer and is physically attractive, but his looks usually don't attract a lot of attention which is how he prefers it. He usually dresses in dark-colored, loose-fitting clothing that does not impede his movement. Most of the time he is mistaken for a dandy or a young noble, which suits him fine; that means he is being underestimated. Due to a magical pool that he drank from, all of his statistics were increased by one point. He is adjusting to the changes in his body and mind as a result.

Personality: Quiet, Pragmatic. Xavier has been a loner for most of his life; this is as much a result of his training as his background. He had harbored great resentment toward both his mother and his twin brother Lough but this is slowly changing, as Xavier is finding out Lough isn't the uncaring monster he has been made out to be. Xavier keeps to himself most of the time, saying little about a subject until others have had a say, then he speaks his mind. He is a pragmatic sort and tries his best, especially when his life is on the line.
Background:
Xavier was born in the Dymrak Forest north of Rugalov Village just moments after his twin brother Lough, sons of Athienn Greenbranch, an elvish adventurer of somewhat questionable morals and almost legendary proclivity. Their father to this day is unknown. Their mother could only take one of the twins with her to live with the elves, so she left Xavier with a family of wealthy humans in Specularum while she took Lough with her.

Xavier never quite fit in with his human siblings and children of his age in the village, even though his adopted mother and father did everything they could to help the half-elven child. So as he grew older, the more quiet and withdrawn Xavier became.

When Xavier was ten years old, a band of malicious thieves assaulted his home. While the rest of the band ransacked the house, their leader (a master thief named Frost) went methodically through the house, killing guards, family and servants alike. When he found the young Xavier hiding under his bed, the old thief decided to take him instead of killing him.

Xavier was trained in the art of thievery and swordplay by Frost, learning hard and painful lessons from his "Uncle". Under threat of physical punishment and sometimes death, he performed various unpleasant thieving jobs. He didn't like doing them, but he found that he was good at them. To be finally initiated into the ranks of this small band of cutthroats, he was directed by Frost to kill his own brother, Lough of Rose Glen.

At first, upon finding Lough he was eager to do so and was waiting for the first opportunity, but after spending several months adventuring with his twin, he has come to realize that his brother is not the monster that Frost told him about. He has had quite a few chances at slaying his brother and escaping, but he has sickened of killing for no good reason.

Xavier has confessed to his twin brother Lough about his desire to be rid of Frost and his minions. After finding out that Frost had lied to him about his brother, Xavier wants to kill Frost for what he almost made Xavier do, but he knows that he is not good enough yet. Lough has offered to help his brother in his quest.

Motivations/Goals: His main goal is to be rid of Frost, knowing now that he is responsible for a great deal of torment in his life. He knows that the only way to do that is to kill him, but he knows he cannot defeat the master warrior/thief and his cohorts without getting a lot better at what he does, as much as it sickens him sometimes. He is always interested in acquiring magical items that either augment or supplement his own abilities, such as the rope of climbing and the potion of invisibility he possesses.

Combat/Tactics: Xavier usually tends to hang back to assess the situation and guard some of the weaker members of his party. When in melee he usually lends a helping hand to a companion (whether its needed or not). When questioned about it, he just shrugs and says that the foe is downed that much quicker if he helps. If confronted by superior numbers however, Xavier will (somewhat reluctantly) engage them head-on, using his quickness and his sword and dagger to best effect, though he tends to fight defensively. He tends to pick his spots in a fight, a method some might see as cowardice.

Foes/Enemies: Xavier hates people who kill for no reason other than pure profit (evil thieves and assassins in particular) and will not hesitate to act against them if he can. He also harbors deep resentment toward his mother for leaving him behind while she took Lough with her to live amongst the elves. He desires to be free of his “Uncle” Frost, but he knows that to truly be free, he most likely will have to kill him. In order to accomplish that, he must get better at his craft and have staunch allies at his back.

Mannerisms: None.

Locales Frequented: Rugalov Village, Specularum, Penhaligon.
