Kref's Manifesto
These are interesting times in the Grey Citadel. After my travels from the far North, I had hoped for a bit of rest in this town, known to be one of the few goodly outposts in this troubled realm. Still, troubled times bring about interesting outcomes. This Elinda Bannon’s tower seems most promising. I fear she has succumbed to one of her own conjurings. Mayhaps in her arrogance she forgot a carnal rule of magic: Do not call up that which you can not put down.

Some fear I suffer from the same flaw. Simpletons. Do I dabble in the arts of chaos? Certainly. But my disciplined mind allows me to employ chaos for my own means. The Crawler can be controlled. It serves Its purpose. I admire Its single-mindness. It exists for one purpose: to consume. I exist for one purpose: to learn the Secrets of the Arcane.

Some of my fellow Avalonians were troubled by my interests. They said that I was dabbling in the evil arts. They don’t understand. I care not for such mundane concepts as “good” and “evil.” I care only for magic. Magic cares not for such silliness. I summon an unholy ape from the Great Hells, but I use it to punish those that would harm my companions. Is that “evil?”

But enough of this pondering. Let us get to that wizardess’s tower and see what she learned in the ways of Arcanery.
