Retro Journal #9, Dragons and Dungeons
So useful lessons learned, dragons take things a little too seriously. You make one little comment and they get all eaty. Luckily I think I've discovered a way to remove at least one annoying person in the future should it be necessary. It's not like we still didn't get our deal with the dragon, (despite our group mates fears of our bovine bartering chips) and get some information about Ranchefus, so really two birds with one dragon.

I'm telling you, fortune smiled on us today, looting after a dragon does all the dirty work? Simply amazing. A whole cave of plunder, fame and fortune to claim as we show off the heads of our defeated foes, who are we to complain if she missed on barely capable giant? Our fighter was in fine form today and finished off the beast almost entirely on his own. I must admit, we also got lucky that the other party (whose remains I gleefully observed) did not have a rogue as skilled as myself, or surely the giants would have been dead already and the group would be waiting in ambush for us.

We picked up a new party member, although I'm dubious of his actual utility, he has grandiose claims to being a battle mage, but really it just seems like he's giving our fairy more of a chance to blow things up, and since I'm often in melee with said things I take a rather dim view on this addition. Time will tell if he works out for the best.

We did some scouting of the keep where Ranchefus supposedly resides, and by scouting I mean someone walked up toward the front door, right into a trap, and we had to run away with our tail between our legs. At some point I'm going to have to sit down and explain to these guys what the word scout actually means, it certainly doesn't mean get shot full of arrows and put the enemy on alert.

Hopefully we can recover from our false start since I suspect this keep is full to the brim with treasure as soon as we can remove the pesky bandits, and more then likely someone will even thank us for doing the job, as if we were doing it to help them!

Really guys, what are the odds it's trapped?
So Ranchefus bit it, three cheers for your conquering hero, Seped.

Luckily the group decided to listen to my wisdom and rest before we explored the rest of the area, even though I had to talk them out of soiling valuable furs to cover up a couple of corpses. On the topic of corpses, I'm more then a little alarmed by the fact that Ranchefus's went into super decay mode during my shift, next time I set fire first, look second.

After a good bit of rest and some much needed healing for your brave leader, we set off to explore the backrooms fully that I had first boldly cleansed. First, let me say that I hate dogs, the damnable things are impossible to hit and they leave the most unpleasant wounds, thankfully I wasn't the first one through the door to the apparent kennel. While disposing of kibbles and bits we ran into a most.. unique creature who has some amazing mechanical means of strangulation which I'm most interested in learning the secrets of, but I've had to put it off for now since the party is rightfully keeping her gagged. I'd have had the secret from her lips and then silenced her permanently but for some reason we are dragging her along.

Negating two undead that were removed from this world almost as soon as they re-entered it we didn't find much to challenge us, other then some foul beast in a toilet which we strategically placed on the other side of a locked door. Sadly we aren't going to be able to take all of the loot here, I'm going to pencil something into my schedule to come back and finish hauling away our rewards.

We returned to civilization and proceeded to... loot our loot. I have secured a finely made longsword, also I need to talk the party into allowing me to keep the bracers, with these I would be much safer in melee and would receive a healthy boost to my.. resource reallocation.. skills in all situations. It's come to my attention that I should start wearing a gorget by way of a poisoned dart which nearly ended my life, thankfully our cleric was just wise enough to have a useful spell and someone came up with a good way to find a druid before things turned dark for your dear narrator.

Thankfully that's behind me, but I'm still going to need a day or two to recuperate, perhaps a gentle mule ride up to the half looted castle?

Fineas Dilian- what an idiot
I tell everyone beforehand, don't hire me unless you are sure you want the job done. Cause I'll do whatever I'm paid to do. I really couldn't care less. Mostly I get normal jobs, the kind no one really thinks twice about because, success or failure, it doesn't personally effect them either way. Few years ago I was asked to do a job by this low-level Johnson. He worked at a smaller corp I was fond of due to their generosity in acquiring bioware implants for me. I was fine with it. He calls me up, crying about his wife and some shit. Apparently she was fuckin' someone else and he was devastated by it, said she was trying to ruin his career or something. I don't know. But I told I'd do the job if he wanted. Said he'd pay well. Gave me all the details- go hit the woman and the dude she was bangin at this address at this time. Even gave me the type of dress she would be wearing. So the go to the apartment and its got a keypad lock, no big deal. I hack into the place- this place's security was kind of low in my opinion- and take a look around. No one around except the two in the bedroom, fuckin just like he said they would be. So I walk in and two bullets later I leave the place. Easy gig. So I go to collect my pay and the Johnson pulls a gun on me. Crying about how could I kill his wife and I ruined his life and all that shit. Now, I can take an insult and I can take being stiffed on a job and I can even take being framed for murder- let's be honest, I've committed that crime many times- but all of those at once? Got on my nerves. I told that piece of shit to put the gun down before he made any real mistake. He wasn't having it. Neither was I. I'll admit, I slipped up. I dropped my emotional impassivity and I let my temper go out of hand. As a result, a Johnson was lying at my feet with only one kneecap left. I loaded up my pistols and decided whether it would be best to try and explain to the corporation why I shot a Johnson or get a drink. I felt I needed to be good and drunk to be run out of Seattle, so I got a drink.

After a few hours, another Johnson from the corp sits next to me at the bar. I've got my hand on my gun, ready to fuck the man and skip town. Maybe go back to Chicago, get killed nice and fast in that crazy city rather than slowly in this one. I don't know. But he buys me a drink and tells me to relax. Says they were monitoring this idiot Johnson- Fineas Dilian is his name- and they understand that I didn't actively attack their man. Fineas, or Ghost as everyone calls him, apparently earnestly believes that I murdered his wife and her lover- a low level worker in the corporation who had connections to everyone in management, the guy to know if you need help climbing the ladder- without any prior connection to him. While the Johnson wasn't pleased that I attacked a member of his corp, he said they understood it wasn't my fault and I wasn't being held accountable. That kinda shit. I felt so good I bought the man a drink. Just to make small talk I asked why a weaselly piece of filth like Fineas was called Ghost. Apparently he used to be a shadowrunner himself when he was a kid. Got bored of it fast. Testament to his skill I guess. Anyway, I guess this Ghost used his connections to drug dealers and shady cyber-docs to acquire some dubious goods for a budding corporation. As a result he became one of the top resource acquisition members, and I guess he's pretty fuckin good at it too. After the drink is finished, the Johnson looks at me and tells me that Ghost has disappeared, and it isn't my problem, but if I see the bastard I am to forcefully detain him. Then he leaves me be. I buy one more drink because I know what the Johnson was saying. Ghost was off the record, and with a crazed fucked up mind shattered by my killing his adulterous wife, there was a pretty good chance the shitbag would be gunning for me. Not the first time this has happened, but I never like having to murder someone for no pay. O well. Shit happens.

Seven Crowns
Pre-planning session
The players include three dragonborn brothers (A warlord and what else?) played by John, Matt, and Jason. Two tieflings, a rogue and paladin of the Raven Queen, played by Dean and Curtis. Owen is playing an eladrin wizard.

Dean requested to fight kobolds and gnomes. John suggested the dragonborn would like to recapture former dragonborn glory. Curtis looks at his duties as a military mission to eliminate the undead.
