Session 7
Our heroes from last time (Abelia, Yara, and Valerian) are joined by Frey in the Acheronian ruins. Exploring the first of the last two rooms they find a group of adventurers being eaten by ghouls. One (Bunda) is still alive! Together they dispatched the ghouls and recover some treasure from the room including an ancient tapestry.

The group continues looking for the book Petruko is after. In the final room, the stench of blood fills the air. They found a secret stairway under a sarcoughagus in the middle of the room! The stairs lead to a chamber full of ancient torture implements and whose floor is covered in sticky, semi-dried blood. In the corner hangs a rusty iron maiden locked shut with an equally rusty lock and a light scratching sound form inside. Very slowly, blood drips from it, seemingly the source of the blood on the floor. Also in the room is a bookshelf...and Petruko find the book he is after (along with some others sure to interest Amando)! (The book has a cover made from ancient brass plates with pages of silk. It is titled "Andros' Manual of the Northern Eldritch.") The party decides to leave the iron maiden alone, unsure of who or what is inside, and not wanting to find out.

They return to Amando's home. He is pleased with the books the party found for him and gives Yara the antidote to the poison he took. Also, he looks at the tapestry. It tells the story of an Acheronian Queen named Tanithe (tan-EETH). It seems she was a sorceress who was also a military leader. She conquered many lands and lived well beyond the lifetime of many men. In the tapestry, it shows that she was finally captured during an uprising of the people. Her fate is not revealed.

Afterward, the party returned to Reddingbrook to regroup and decide where to go next. Petruko, happy to find his book, returned to Zamora.

Session 6 - An Old Friend
After searching the bodies of the mysterious attackers, the group finds a map written in an unknown language. Soon, Abelia notices someone riding down the road toward them. The heroes confront the person only to discover that it's Petruko. It seems he was coming here to get the map the party discovered. Upon examination, the Zamorian identifies the language as Acheronian. The only local who can translate the map is an old hermit named Amando. Before he translates the map, he forces Yara to drink a slow-acting poison that will kill him in 6 days if he does not return for the antidote and bring back with him any books they should find that may interest him.

After getting the translation, Abelia, Yara, Valerian, and Petruko set out for the ancient ruins, which they find nestled in a hidden river valley. Delving into the ruins, they find little treasure and more than enough undead for their taste. Still, two doors remain unopened...

Session 5 - Into Argos We Go
The heroes accompany Beloso into Argos, he decides to stop in a small town named Reddingbrook. While here, the party visits the local tavern, The Rummy Tankard, and hear a couple of interesting tales. The first is rumors of an old Acheronian temple somewhere nearby that has never been found. The second tells of a murder committed in Messantia by a leatherworker. Apparently he was in love with a nobleman's wife and killed her when she threatened to tell her husband of the affair.

The group does some investigating into the murder. Word has it that the killed, a man named Geoffrey, has an acquaintance in Reddingbrook. After some questioning, the party suspects a local merchant of harboring the murderer, but are unable to locate him.

Riding out to a suspecting hiding place, the heroes encounter a group of unidentified men who attack them. After a short battle, the party is victorious, but unsure of who they have just killed...

Session 4 - Seeing the Unseen
Yara awakens after a time and is seemingly unharmed. Josef recommends the party get out of town for a time while the heat from their heist cools off. After arranging to accompany a merchant, named Beloso, south to Messantia, Yara notices a small, shadowy creature lingering about that only he can see. It seems to feed on other living creatures leaving them weakened. The party follows the creature into a cavern under the local stables and they witness a cult casting a spell on a man chained to a stone altar. The surprise entrance of the heroes makes the spell go awry. The man transforms into a fearsome werewolf, breaks his bonds, and attacks anything in sight. The heroes AND cultists flee, but only heroes escape. The town guard helps slay the unfortunate werewolf. Little is known of the cult except for a tattoo (see below) they each bear. Yara recognizes the tattoo. He saw it once before when his father was kidnapped.

Session 3 - Making a Name
The heroes look for work and meet an information broker named Josef who has a task for them. He wants the party to break into the home of a wealthy rival named Jeremiah and steal some documents for him, a task failed earlier by some of his other henchmen. The party is now joined by Valenso (Steve).

The party accepts the task, but in doing so angers the thieves who attempted it before. Our heroes complete the task at hand, but then are attacked by Josef's now-unemployed henchmen and the group they work with. There is a showdown in an old warehouse between the heroes and the criminals, including a sorcerer who nearly kills them all, but is ultimately defeated. Yara picks up a book found on the mage and opens it. Just before passing out, he alone hears the words "Shabbith Ka."
